Let Me Introduce My Boys

The Lines Of Marsden

I can tell you I am starting to get pretty excited about The Lines Of Marsden: Rules Are Meant To Be Broken coming out on June 1st... at MLRPress. So today I thought I would introduce you to my three main characters. Michael Marsden, Christian Risely & Doyle Kerwin. All the pictures I purchased from the wonderful D W Skinner (who in my humble opinion does some amazing stuff). It was only recently that I saw this picture of Dan's and said OMG this is my Michael. This is exactly how I see him. So this is how my friendship with Dan began. I have every intention of turning these into trading cards as soon as I can work out how to do it. I will have to send Lex Valentine an email to see if she can point me in the right direction.

Without further adieu:

Michael Marsden:

This is my main character throughout the first six books. He is the reason I have a series. Michael Marsden would probably be considered a twink as he is youngish, slender and very emotional. Some would say overemotional. I don't see him that way at all, but that could be because I know what happens to him in the future and you all have to wait and find out.

Michael has to deal with three thinks in this book.

1) He is a newly turned Vampire who for his own reasons doesn't want to follow the rules of his new family.
2) He has to come to turns with the fact that he is also gay,  something he had never really wanted to explore to far before.
3) He finds himself as the obsession of a crazy-arsed Vamp who is out for revenge.

I think of Michael Marsden as like an onion - there are so many layers to him and we have each book to peel away a little more until we find out exactly who he is meant to be.

Christian Risely:

Christian is an enigma, well not really, Chris mainly doesn't remember his past. He doesn't even know how old he really is, but as things happen within the family his memories start to come back bit by bit. But not giving us the complete picture of who he really is.

Although he is not a Marsden he is still part of the line. when Benj enters the story in book three you find out more about Christian. He will become their Drarcaen. Or more importantly he will be Michael's Drarcaen. They share a specail bond which brings them together even as it tears them apart. - Destiny's a bitch, but all things happen for a reason. (Even though sometimes it is hard to work out what those reasons are).

Christian walks between two lives, the one he is meant to have and the one he does have. In the end it will be up to him to choose exactly which path he needs to take for his own peace of mind and happiness.

Christina is not who he appears to be. I am not saying he is evil - because he isn't. But even Christian doesn't know what he is capable of. Through his bond with Michael he slowly comes to sees that what was done in his ast can be undone and he will be a stronger man because of it.

Doyle Kerwin:

Doyle would have to be my favourite character to write ever (I really don't know why he just is).

Doyle kind of just goes with the flow. even though through his dreams he knows what is coming he doesn't act upon them as he also knows things have to happen in the time allotted to them. I think of Doyle as the peace keeper. Though he will become known as the Loyalty for this line of Marsden. I haven't exactly worked out what the loyalty does yet (so any idea's just throw them my way). Though I do know when it all comes to down to it - he doesn't follow his sire he follows Michael (hence the loyalty).

As I re write each book I bring more and more of Doyle into them. He was never meant to be a main character but I just can't help myself.

Doyle is just the guy that comforts most of the family when needed, but never piss him off. Because he will just wipe you out of his life for as long as he deems enough time ( Example - Kerr pissed him off and he never spoke to Kerr for a whole year, even though they lived in the same house. That was whispered in confidence but I don't mind sharing it with all of you).

If you have any questions I will answer them if I can.

    1. Me either - it feels like it has taken a life time. I just hope that it gets a good reception. I think I am more nervous than anything.

  2. This is an early post but I just wanted to say “Thank You” for letting me be included in your Hop Against Homophobia. I am afraid I am not a talent m/m fiction writer like your authors but I am an avid reader of it.

I guess I do not fit into any category really since I write non-fiction for an adult studio. http://shadowsterling.blogspot.com/2012/04/studio-i-write-for.html

But this is a cause I feel strongly about and I wanted to let you know I appreciate the opportunity to be included.
