Day 86: Ants!

With all the crappy weather we've been having, our house is overrun by ants. those little, tiny motherhumpers that you can hardly see, but can't get rid of them. Not are their only an abundance of ants, but the flies and spider have really increased in numbers. All trying to get out of the weather. My mum always says that having ants as we do is a sign we're going to be in for a shit-ton of rain.

So you guessed it, today I'm going around the house and spraying everywhere, especially the window ledges and the doorways. Anywhere these little buggers can come in. Another job that is best done while everyone is either at work or school.

Until tomorrow; remember: Life is just a series of obstacles preventing us from reading books.

Day 84: Grocery Day

Today I am hoping like hell that the groceries are not going to cost us a fortune. It seems like every week that they go up and up, and there seems to be less and less in the store.

At least the pantry is now clean, and we (I) can easily put everything away. it drives me bonkers when everyone just shoves it in anywhere.

Today is also deep cleaning the shower day. I'm having a hard time getting the soap marks off the floor. Because Hurricane is allergic to scented soap, we use Sunlight soap, and sadly it is leaving a white residue on my brown tiled floor

Until tomorrow; remember: Psst, my cat says you are a little B*tch

Day 83: Freaking Hell

This little fluffernutter is Robson (Robby) he may look all cute and adorable, but don't let the cuteness fool you. he is one humongous pain in the arse. He's taken to getting on my little computer table and taking it over while I'm trying to get shit done... and if I don't pay him enough attention - he mock bites me until I stop everything and pat him.

I've still been going through all my partial stories and writing down character names... then I'm looking for picture of random people to see how I picture them in my mind.

Today I'm also finishing off the girl's bedroom. I don't understand how they can mess it up so fast, especially when they are at school 3 - 5 days a week. Yes I know they are only 4 & 5 years old, but dang they create a lot of havoc.

Also washing today and hanging it on the airers on the patio = better to be safe than sorry and it getting rained on. I know I could use the dryer but why waste the power. the sun when it's out does a better job and the clothes smell better.

Until tomorrow, remember: Don't forget what a fabulous little weirdo you are - and always will be.

Day 82: Damn Weather

This is what our sky has looked like for the few days. there has also been thunder and rain, so it has made doing outdoor very difficult. I'm hoping today they just stay as clouds so I can at least attempt to mow the yards... and poison the parts that need it.

Weighed in 104.9kg- the good news is I didn't gain any weight.

Had a huge huntsman spider in my room last night. I know we shouldn't kill them, but dang it when you're terrified of them a whole can of spray is allowed to be used.

Today I have to reclean the dining room and the 2nd loungeroom because no seems to know how to put anything away. It drives me absolutely nuts. I also need to buy two over the door hangers so I can dismantle a mirror and make it so it can hang over a door. I did have two hangers, but no one knows where they went; hence the reason I have buy new ones.

Until tomorrow, remember: When killing them with kindness doesn't work, try a baseball bat... results may vary.

Day 80: Chore Day Again

Today I am going to get the three girls to clean up their rooms. I like to get it all sorted out... also be a good time to declutter the toys and clothes.

I'm also going to do the washing to get ready for school again on Monday... I'll also make sure that my daughter goes through both cars looking for any and all socks... Two months since school started and all the socks are missing again.

Today I'm also going to think of a better set up for the cupboards above the stove and wall oven. They are what would be described at our junk drawer... we have all the things in them that we don't want the kids to be able to touch. I've ordered some better storage solutions.

I also need to check the tanks to see if they need switching back to town water. I had someone show me how to do it...

Until tomorrow, remember: When life gives you lemons... it's time to cook fish. because not everyone likes lemonade.

Day 78: Parcel Day

This is what I'm hoping turns up today... the kids new trampoline. they need a new one because the current one is too small for all three of them to jump on at once. Don't get me wrong they still do it, but needless to say one of them will come off crying and hurt... but then no more than 10 minutes later they are all back out there jumping like crazy again. Mind you, I'm not looking forward to having to put the thing together.

I've also been back in the kitchen rearranging everything. Trying to get the pantry to a place that I'm happy with it. Where it's easier for me to find stuff when I need it.

Well, I started in the pantry and then moved onto the pot/frying pan pantry. then it was the drawers... I got some organisers to hold all of the cooking utensils... trays that I can separate everything into the correct categories... Now I have to make sure everyone else keeps it neat and tidy.

Until tomorrow, remember: If you use it, you batter damn well put it back where it belongs; or start running if I have to go looking for it.

Day 73: Today I

Today I'm going to sit down with a clean book, and work on some of the storage problems around the house... see if I can come up with solutions for each one, and how much it's going to cost me... because I always like to know how much and how long it's going to take me to save up and get each thing. It also dictates in what order I buy and do the things I want. Mainly it's all about storage solutions... With three adults and three kids in a house we have a lot of stuff.

Hurricane and Monsoon have swimming lessons. Gracefuls was yesterday arvo. So, I'll have to wash all the wet stuff when they get home. Hopefully they don't take forever to dry. As I hate using the dryer; I think they use too much power.

Today I'm also cleaning out under my bed, because the kids and the cats have made a mess under there, mainly Hurricane and Monsoon. They seem to think under my bed is their own personal cubby house.

Until tomorrow, remember: Smile... just because it makes people wonder what you're up to

Day 72: Pot Cleaning Day

Today while everyone is at work/school/kindy... I'm going to tackle the job of getting the pot and frying pan bottoms clean. It'll probably take me all day. I'll do them in batches so that I'm not standing on my feet for so long and sweating up a storm. Seeing as it is so damn humid.

In between time I'm still cleaning up bits and pieces... I'm still thinking of ways to change up the garage. I'm tired of not being able to reach things on the shelves when I need them.

My back is a little tender today, just below the divot in my back. Too much bending. Hence the reason I'm doing all my chores in bits and pieces so that I don't turn my little niggle into something worse.

If I have time, I'll try and get a bit more done on my story sorting project. It doesn't seem like I'm getting anywhere, but I know that I am, even if it is just character naming etc at this time. But I know if and when I'm ready to get back to writing I will be ready.

Until tomorrow, remember: Sometimes it's good to take care of yourself instead of everyone else.

Day 71: Chore Day

Today while all the kiddos are at school/kindy I'm going to catch up on all the little chores I couldn't get done while all the kids were home sick. I'm just lucky we have enough airers (6) that I can still hang out a couple of loads of washing.

Today I'm also cleaning the washing machine and laundry again. I don't know why that room always seems to have a smell, and I don't know why. I know right now because it has been raining for nearly a week.

I would love it if I could be one of those people, who could sit on a porch while it's raining. snuggled up with a good book, a blanket and a nice cup of coffee. Sadly, my reality is, when it rains. The patio doesn't stay dry; and my beautiful grandbabies wouldn't leave me alone while I was trying to get my me time happening. So instead of enjoying myself. I'll just work on the chores that need doing.

Until tomorrow, remember: Sometimes you just gotta get it done.

Day 70: Septic and Shopping

Today is septic service day. I pity the poor guy that has to get down there to the septic tank; due to all the rain I haven't gotten the grass cut down, and I know the guy will turn up before we even have the kids breakfast finished.

I'm trying to come up with new storage options in our pantry. The way we have it set out now just isn't working for me. I need to fix it. I like being able to see what's in the pantry. At the moment, everything is stacked on top of each other. So definitely not the best.

Still working on sorting through all my semi done stories. I still haven't found the two I actually first started looking for, which is a bit of a bummer. So for now, I'm going to put them out of my mind and concentrate on the ones I did find.

Until tomorrow, remember: Sometimes it's okay to give up & try again tomorrow.

Day 66: Black Boxes & Garage

I'm going to have to re-dig through my black tubs to see if that's where I saw my story snippets. I tell you. It's driving me crazy. So, this is my chore while the girls are at swimming. I'll have an hour to get the job done before they are home again and annoying me... by annoying I mean they will want to pull everything out and look at it = not going to happen. If they aren't in the black tubs, I'll have to admit defeat. Admit I must have accidentally thrown them away.

while I'm out in the garage. I'll see if there is a better way of storing everything ~ setting everything out. As I would still like to get the ride on mower in the garage at some stage. I still think there is a better way. maybe even put the dryer up on the chunky coffee table as that would get the coffee table out of the road. I know anyone reading this has absolutely no idea what I'm talking about, but I do and sometimes I just need to talk shit out.

Until tomorrow, remember: Never regret anything that made you smile

Day 65: Chore Day #2

Today I have to go through and clean out all the fridges and freezers. They all need a good wipe out. I hate it when it gets left too long and the bottom end up full of crumbs and bits of crap. or when stuff gets spelled on the fridge shelves and they get all sticky. So, I'm trying to go through and clean them at least every two weeks. Sometimes more if they need it.

Doing this also helps me keep track of just what we have in all the freezers etc. That way I'm not over buying. Though mainly If I'm not going to eat it, I give it to my neighbour across the road. he has a pig. I know it won't go to waste.

I also need to whipper snip the walk through and the driveway today. just to keep that grass down nice and low.

I have a bad headache today. It's one of those ones that zips all over like a tight skull cap. Tonight, I'll take a stronger pain pill and hopefully it will abate while I'm sleeping.

Until tomorrow, remember: If captured by the Faries ~ turn your clothes inside out and it will confuse them enough for you to escape.

Day 64: Still Looking

You guessed it, I'm still looking for my story snippets. I just wish I knew where the hell they were. Absolutely annoying the freaking crap out of me because I want to look at them so badly. If I wasn't looking for them. They would be the first things I'd find. But no. Life decided to be a bitch and throw a spanner in the works.

I'm mowing the house yard and tank yards today. at least with having double the batteries I won't have to stop for an hour in the middle and wait for a recharge. I might even charge up the Ryobi mower and get the front mound done as well.

Also, since we've had a bit of rain, I'll have to go into the toy greenhouse and empty out the tubs as I noticed they are half full. They probably have frogs/toads in them. Meaning my daughter won't go near them ~ just in case.

Until tomorrow, remember: It's not about winning or losing, it's about how you play the game.

Day 63: Chore Day 1

Today I have to catch up on a few chores. One's that I can't do while I have Monsoon home with me. So, I'm going to take my time and get as much as I can done over the next three days while all the kids are at school/kindy.

I also need to do a bit of research on something I plan on doing in the yard. My old next-door neighbour told me what I needed. now all I have to do is go and buy it and put my plan into action.

Hurricane and Graceful have to wear green today for school. Swear to God, we are going to have to have a box with a heap of different coloured shirts in them for the different day. White... Red... Orange... Yellow... Blue... Pink... Football... State of Origin...I'm sure I'm forgetting one. Then you have to think about Book week costumes... Easter bonnets... Christmas costumes...Pyjama Day... Crazy Sock Day. It never ends.

Until tomorrow remember: Taking the first step, is the beginning of getting the job done.

Day 59: Swimming Day

The girls have swimming today... so we all know what that means. I have washing to do. the wet stuff from swimming, the dance clothes, school uniforms, and any other clothes that are around the house and not yet washed. I always like to start off each week with an empty laundry basket in the house

I've also noticed a wet spot near a downpipe. I'm going to have to keep my eye on it and see if it's a problem (I.E: damaged downpipe) or someone was just using the hose there. I'm hoping it's not damaged. The last one was a pain in the arse to get fixed.

I also need to get some mowing done today while the girls are down at the pool and not underfoot. I get it done faster when they aren't here; and now that I have two sets of batteries I don't even have to stop.

Does anyone know how to get old, dried paint off of a garage floor? Yes, I know it should have probably been dealt with as soon as it happened; but it wasn't and now I'm trying to remedy the problem.

Until tomorrow, remember: Life is like a box of chocolates ~ you never know what flavour the day might bring.

Day 58: Still Cleaning

Today I'm tackling the horrid task of going through my drawers and wardrobe. I was looking for something yesterday and for some strange reason, I noticed I have more than just my clothes in there. So now I have to go through and sort everything out and put other people's belongings back into their rooms.

I'm just going to put some good music on and potter away. This is what happens when I get the three girls to help me put the clean washing away. No wonder we can never find anything...

I also want to see what's in the boxes and baskets under my bed, I have 3 and for the life of me I can't remember what's in them. One of them probably holds all the missing story notes I have been looking for ~ at least I hope it does.

The bad part about doing this is as soon as I empty out a drawer, one of the cats gets in and lays down like it has found the best home ever and has no intentions of moving ever. Makes the job go twice as long

Until tomorrow, remember: To do the job right ~ do it yourself

Thursday, 26 February 2026

Day 57: Chore Day

Today while all the girls are at school/kindy I'm going to pick one chore that needs doing and get it done while I don't have little ones here to get in my way... today I think it is going to be to rearrange the pantry and knock down the cobwebs. for something I go into every damn day; it stumps me how there can be cobwebs; and yet they are there.

I also want to try and come up with some type of cover solution for the appliances that are stored on the garage shelving because they are getting full of dust which can't be good for them. I'm going to have to buy some dust covers for them as the plastic tubs take up too much room and don't fit enough appliances in them.

This is what I have decided to do while the girls are all at school I will clean something that I don't want help with... mainly because it is just easier ~ less of a headache if you will. I'm actually hoping they both Monsoon and Hurricane come home worn out; or at least want to watch the same thing on TV ~ which rarely happens... Graceful has dance this arvo so she'll be home later than the other two.

Until tomorrow, remember: The roses are dead. The violets are dying... You say it's over; but I know you're lying.

Saturday, 21 February 2026

Day 52: Catch Up Day

Today I'm trying to catch up on all the chores that I have let slip over the last week. I also want to try and move the ride on mower into the garage to get it out of the rain... I might need help with that part. I might have to wait until tomorrow when I have people here to help me.

I have some washing to do after the three kiddos get home from swimming lessons. I also want to walk around the perimeter of the house and spray for wasps again. those suckers just keep popping up.

I also need to clean out (tidy) my drawers etc in my room. I haven't been the best at putting my clothes away properly of late and I've noticed there are clothes in the wrong drawers. even worse when the kids try and help me.

The weather doesn't know whether it wants to be hot or overcast. I wish it would bloody make up its mind already. I just hope the washing has a chance to dry. At least I can move them to an airer if I have to.

Until tomorrow, remember: No matter how hard your past is ~ you can always begin again.

Friday, 20 February 2026

Day 51: Weather Permitting

I'm going to try and get a bit of the yardwork done again today. I've had a long enough rest, and it needs to be done. Not per say in the bouse yard. but I have some whipper snipping that definitely needs doing.

I'm still tired and have a massive headache... but what else is new. same shit - different day. If I don't do the chores then they'll never get done. Luckily, I actually like the yard work. I just wish it was a tad bit cooler some days.

At least with the kids at school and my daughter at work, I will have a peaceful day to work at my own pace. the only one I have to worry about checking on is my mum. Which I do every 20 minutes when I have to recharge the batteries on said tools. Also, on days like this I make sure that I prepare our lunch early, so I only have to do the basic cook when I stop (we like our main meal at lunch time so that we're not going to bed on full heavy stomachs).

Until tomorrow, remember: No one ever injured their eyesight by looking on the bright side of things.

Monday, 16 February 2026

Day 47: Finally Dry

I made the mistake of doing a load of bedding (washed) when it was raining. I hung them out on the clothes airers, but it took nearly three days for them to dry properly. I think I'll leave the rest of the washing until it stops raining. At least I could finally make my bed properly.

I looked after Monsoon while her mum took her big sisters to school and doctors. I also weighed in 104.8kg. I seriously feel like I'm filled up with gas (bloated).

Today I'm just having an easy day, and I started going through some old notebooks to see if I had any story synopsis or ideas in them. I have another whole pile that I will leave until later in the week. I'll get to them eventually.

I'm tired today, and my lower back is hurting. I have a mad headache because I still haven't given myself the haircut (shaved) that I desperately need. I just seem to keep running out of time.

Still having infrequent showers, so I haven't gotten to mow as yet. Thankfully the grass isn't very long... I'll try and get to it this upcoming weekend.

Until tomorrow, remember: Don't be pushed around by the fears in your mind... instead, be led by the dreams in your heart.
