Dang It...

Alas, Hidden Hearts 1: Harder and Harder to Breathe and Hidden Hearts 2: One Last Kiss Goodbye wasn't accepted by Pride Publishing, so I have to try and find a new home for them. Wish me luck. I don't look at it as a rejection, just as the stories weren't right for what Pride is currently looking for.

I'm still working on The Connelly Chronicles 3: Because of You which will go to Pride as it is part of a series I currently have with them. I think the new track I have taken with it will suit them just fine. I have also planned out  Wardens of the Guild 3: Heart Stings and hope to get that finished by the end of the year as well.

NaNoWriMo is fast approaching and I'm still determined to get Sons of Evenmore 3: Fear the Scarlet Moon knocked out, and that's where I'll make the start on Heart Strings. I'm quite looking forward to it this year.

Other than that: I fell off the front garden bed this morning and hurt my back. It hurts like a bitch. Hopefully, It won't keep me down for long as I have too much stuff to do to be in pain. Luckily I have some pain killers to help me through the worst of it.

Update Time...

Okay, of late I have been a bit slack. I have no excuses, well none that really count, just the odd headache, cold, Dr app, JAG Marathon, Murdoch Mysteries Marathon...

In between those I have been doing edits on Admetus Gaea 1: The Gaean Prophecy... I've also filled in the BIF and sent back to Christie N at MLRPress.

I've also been working on The Connelly Chronicles 3: Because of You. I scrapped what I had and started again. a bit drastic I know, but I decided to go another way with the storyline. I think it will now fit with the series back story better.

I also had to update my windows as my computer stopped letting me do some things, and now that I've updated, I can once again get back into everything,

I have also been getting some of my reviews done and sent back in for the Rainbow Awards... there are some talented people out there.

Just Signed A Contract...

 Admetus Gaea 1
The Gaean Prophecy

I'll keep you all updated on how I'm doing with it all. Hopefully, everything will run smoothly.  I haven't heard back about The Lines of Marsden 4: The Trail of Red Roses yet, but will let you know when I do.

I'm still plugging away at The Connelly Chronicles 3: Because of You. I've actually written a heap and then gone through and did a rewrite because it just wasn't right. or heading in the direction that I had originally planned for it. I hate it when a story I'm writing goes off the rails so completely that even I'm left scratching my head and going WTF just happened. Anyway, I'll try and keep you more informed on what's happening.

Working On...

Okay, So until I hear back about the two books I've recently submitted I'm keeping myself busy by writing a mixture of books. I've decided that I need to write a variety so I don't get mired down in one story for the whole time and it lets my brain tick over and keep on going.

You can see the list on the side of my blog what I'll be working on and we all know purple is MLRPress, and green is Pride Publishing, and pink is needs to find a publisher. Most of these stories I hope to have finished by the end of May.

Wish Me Luck...

You will be happy to know I have just subbed two books.

The Lines of Marsden 4:
The Trail of Red Roses

&

Admetus Gaea 1:
The Gaean Prophecies

Now I just have wait to see if they've been accepted or not. Did I mention I'm not good at waiting? Luckily for me, I have something to keep me busy.

The Connelly Chronicles 3: Because of You

Thursday 7 March 2019

The End...

I finally reached the end of book 4: The Trail of Red Roses... and I can say for once I stuck mostly to my plot plan... that is until I got right to the last 4 chapters and then it all derailed on me and went in a different direction entirely.

I guess I have the whole of the next book (5) which is only an offshoot 50K Christmas novella (On the 12th Day) to get it back on track. I'm pretty sure I can do it.

So for right now, I'm typing up the synopsis and getting it ready to submit to MLRPress. this story has been a long time coming.

The next body of works on my agenda is The Connelly Chronicles: Because of You, I'm hoping to get it finished by the end of May.

Wednesday 27 February 2019

Just A Quickie...

I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Why is it when you have something that has to be done life decides to fuck you over?

The Lines of Marsden 4: The Trail of Red Roses... it was supposed to be done by now, and then I got bronchial asthma that lasted for months... and then I got visitors... and now it's supposed to be finished by tomorrow... and I've put my back out. I just can't win for losing. I still have 20K to write, which will take me 4 to 5 days... a week at most before I can even think about submitting. so I'm not happy.

On the other hand, I do have three of my other books ready for rehousing so I can submit them when I get the chance:

  • Admetus Gaea 1: The Gaean Prophecy
  • Moon Runners 1: Heart-mate, Mine! (though this is set at Christmas)
  • Moon Runners 2: I Won't Let You Go

Tuesday 19 February 2019

Update Time...

Okay, so a lot has happened since last time I was on here. I finally got my rights back from Fireborn for Moon Runners series, but not just Moon Runners, I got them back for all the books I had with Fireborn Publishing. so now I have been getting them ready to try and rehouse them.

Mainly writing up a synopsis for each story to send in so Publishers have a gist of what they're about. I hate writing Synopsis. I never had to do them at Fireborn, but lesson learned now I'll just do them for all books for just in case scenarios.

My rehousing list is as follows:

  • Admetus Gaea 1: The Gaean Prophecy
  • Hidden Hearts 1: Harder & Harder to Breathe
  • Hidden Hearts 2: One Last Kiss Goodbye
  • Moon Runners 1: Heart-mate, Mine!
  • Moon Runners 2: I Won't Let You Go
  • The Diamond Rose 1: Gateway to Kalethia
  • The Freedomers 1: Zephania's Chance

I'm still working on The Lines of Marsden 4: The Trail of Red Roses, but have to do a bit of a back read as I have mixed up a couple of my chapters and need to figure out my storyline again to finish. To get done by the end of the month I have to write 4,400 words per day... Wish me luck.

Saturday 12 January 2019

Yesterday I...

I finally found where I had tucked Admetus Gaea1: The Gaean Prophecy away. So I reformatted it to get it ready to resubmit it elsewhere to breathe new life into it. First though, I'm going through and changing a shit load so that the story makes more sense to me. I'm keeping the basic storyline, but adding the missing bits that make the whole thing make sense. sad to say that even as the original finished on kind of a cliff hanger so will this one. Though, I'm trying to figure out how to soften it a little if that makes any sense.

I also went and reformatted both Moon Runners 1: Heart-mate Mine, and Moon Runners 2: I Won't Let You Go, in readiness for if and when I get my rights back and I can resubmit them.  I will keep you all updated on what's happening as I find out more. This has been something that has been slow going and might finally be coming to an end. Fingers crossed I get my rights back quickly and find a new home for the Moon Runner guys.

Also working back on The lines of Marsden 4: The Trail of Red Roses. I have the 1st half at beta readers and I'm crazily working on the last half. Actually, I have less than half and only 3 weeks to finish it all in, not that I'm counting... Who am I kidding when I wrote before I thrived under pressure. I just hope it all makes sense. I'll know better once I hear back from James A. The only problem for me is my real life keeps getting in the way, but isn't that true for all authors. I'm thinking I'll just have to schedule my time better.

Back at the Type Writer...

Or━computer, as the case may be...

For the last few months, I've had bronchitis that has kicked off my asthma, which I must admit I haven't suffered from since my early twenties. Apparently, my doctor was worried I was going to develop pneumonia. thankfully I never, and I'm well and truly on the mend. Though, some nights I still have trouble breathing... but that's okay, because I know I'm getting better every day.

The sad thing is, that after coming back online after so long I realised I missed the passing of a very dear person, who is going to be missed by so many people. He was one of the reasons I actually submitted in the first place.

On a writing note seeing as Moon Runner's 2: I Won't Let You Go wasn't released by January 1st of this year I'm now in the process of getting my rights back from Fireborn Publishing so that I can try and house them elsewhere. It sucks big time, but what else can I do.

I've also been in contact with Laura B at MLRPress and let her know what all I have been working on all the synopsis I have long-handed up and have to complete the writing part as most have at least some wordage in them. Plus I want to have The Lines of Marsden 4: The Trail of Red Roses submitted by February 7th.

Plus I have been finishing up some in-depth synopsis for the following titles so that when the time comes up for writing them I know exactly where each chapter needs to be at. The wordage count is the minimum needed for each book.

Updates

I have been working on the EIC edits for Fireborn Publishing on Moon Runners 2: I Won't Let You Go... I have to do the final read through today before I can send it back to Kathy K.

MY BOOKS: I've also still been writing up notes on all the plots for all the stories that I have to write this year. Some are coming to me easy. Others not so much as I can't remember all the character names which means I have a lot of rereading, and sometimes I really don't like rereading my own workbecause I always seem to pick up places where I could have made it better, but I never want to be one of those authors that redo their own work and then put it back out for sale. I only plan on doing that for one book and I'm not even sure if  I will for sale it or put it out for free again... but that story is for a later date (Masters of Time 1: Shadows on the Heart).

I'm about to be a grandma soon, & once bub comes along I'll finally be able to settle back into writing again. right now we are all just waiting for Emily to pop her out (so to speak). Luckily she has had a pretty good pregnancy. I mean she might not think so but compared to some people she can't really complain. She's due at the end of the month.

Running on lack of sleep at the moment as we have roadworks happening near my place. they are upgrading a road that didn't even need doing as far as I can tell. The thing is now the Commonwealth Games Baton is due to be coming through our city in 11 days and now they are scrambling to finish a job that should never have been started. So most night we have noise & flashing lights from 4pm to 5am... who needs sleep these days?

Random Thoughts

Okay, so today's random thoughts are really about writing━my writing.

I've just spent the first two weeks when time permitted going through The Lines of Marsden 4: The Trail of Red Roses... trying to make sense of what I had written. Some of it I'm like seriously, wtf were you thinking? Even I had no clue where the story was going, but hopefully, now I have that all sorted out. So from now on everything should run more smoothly.

I'm hoping most of the other stories that I already have wordage in aren't in the same way. It would drive me bonkers if I have to rework everything... at least it's given me the chance to delete quite a few overused words... now they won't get picked up during edits and I won't feel as bad... my luck there'll be another word I've overused instead...LOL.

I bought myself a yearly planner to try and keep myself on track. and it will keep me motivated if I can see it all the time. I'll be able to mark things off as I go along.

On another note... I'm off to the doctor today I have to have a Whooping Cough Vaccination needle before Grace is born. I'll get the Dr to check my back out because I woke up yesterday morning and could hardly move.... still bloody sore.

Doyle Kerwin

Series Title: The Lines of Marsden
Books: First Line
Name: Doyle Kerwin (Carleah)
Age: 21 (at time of turning
Species: Vampire
Realm: SE Queensland, Australia
Hair Colour/Type/Length: Black, Just below his ears, and perpetually in a messy state.
Eye Colour/Shape: Hazel
Skin colour Type Pale
Scars/Blemishes: N/A
Height: 6 foot
Weight: 97Kg
Clothing preferred: Jeans, sneakers, t-shirts. He really doesn’t have any fashion sense unless someone else picks out his clothes.
Mannerisms: Doyle is the type of person who will who tries to keep the peace if he can—though he will hold a grudge if someone pisses him off enough. He's kind of quiet and somewhat withdrawn and keeps his feelings close to his chest. Except when it comes to Michael after book 2 that relationship flies on a whole new level.
Favourite Colour: Earthen colours (browns & greens)
Favourite Food: Spaghetti Bolognaise
Favourite Drink: Coke or Coffee
Favourite Band: Good Charlotte
Favourite Books: Sherrilyn Kenyon: Dark Hunter Series
Favourite Movie: Lethal Weapon
Notes: One he knows he’s an omega, he takes his role within the pack and coven to heart and helps where he can. His ability to see mating strands/threads/connections goes a long way in helping him resolve issues or set people on the right paths for them to be on. Doyle is the glue that binds everyone together.

Michael Marsden

Series Title: The Lines of Marsden.
Books: Fist line.
Name: Michael Alexander Marsden.
Age: 22 (at time of turning).
Species: Vampire (King).
Realm: SE Queensland, Australia.
Hair Colour/Type/Length: Dark brown almost black (in book one it is just past his shoulders in book 2 onward it is cropped short like in this picture).
Eye Colour/Shape: Purple (shade varies depending on his moods).
Skin colour Type Pale never was prone to tanning.
Scars/Blemishes: Facial scars - small one between the nose and the top lip and one that runs the length of his jaw on his left side, (due to his cousin Geoffrey tripping him into a barbwire fence when in high school – they hate each other).
Height: 5 feet 9.
Weight: 90 Kg.
Clothing preferred: Jeans, dress shirts. Though after meeting pack and the English vampires he does start wearing t-shirts.  He does have a lot of clothing with Dragons on (bought by Gypsy mostly black).
Mannerisms: At first Michael’s kind of shy and unsure of himself. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. Michael once comfortable, with who he is, makes the best damn leader (He’s destined to be king). Michael’s a jump in there all or nothing type of person. Not really an over-thinker, and gets frustrated when the others need to talk and think through everything. Probably why he ends up in trouble so much of the time. Once he sets his mind to something there’s no way he’ll give up until he has completed/mastered what he has set out to do. He’s compassionate up to a point. Hurt him, or who he claims as his, and your life isn’t worth living.
Favourite Colour: All shades of blue.
Favourite Food: Chicken Kiev and Salad
Favourite Drink: Coke/ Bourbon (even though booze really has no effect on them—he just likes the taste)/ and Christian gets him hooked on green tea.
Favourite Band: He likes it all he’s pretty Eclectic in his tastes
Favourite Book: David Eddings the Elenian series
Favourite Movie: Chronicles of Riddick.
NOTES: Siblings are Gypsy his twin sister in this lifetime and Benj from their original lifetime. He has three children with Doyle who was originally known by another name, (Carleah)—children are Raphael who has been kidnapped by Venetia, and still missing, or rather hidden away are Michaela and Vladimir who will be introduced in future books. Michael only ever wanted to live his life. But soon realised that words said in haste to piss someone off often have a way of coming back to bite him in the arse, and turning him into the king of a whole legion of beings, all looking to him for the answers.

Getting Back Into My Mindset...

I have to admit that after taking such a long break in writing I'm finding it rather difficult to get back into the swing of things. There always seems to be something that needs my attention and pulls me away from my computer/tablet. I have to figure out how to get back into writing every day━even just a little bit so that I can get some of my projects completed this year.

I don't know whether to work on multiple projects at once like I used to or just one at a time. to make things easier. What is going to be harder for me going back to what I once knew, or training myself to work in a completely different style?

All I know for sure is I have to do something or I'll be sitting here this time next year talking about the exact same thing and another fruitless year will have passed me by. I definitely don't want that to happen, and I sure don't think my readers do either. I owe them more than that. I have also decided not to start any new series until I have at least written the next books in all existing series because if I start new projects I'll never finish the old ones, and that can't be allowed to happen.

My Baby Is Having A Baby & Other News.

Yes, I should add that my baby isn't really a baby anymore, as she'll be 28 next January... Emily is due at the end of March so here's hoping everything runs smoothly for her... I got to go with her to the scan on Wednesday and see the babies heartbeat... and all I could think isthis shit is real now. Okay, that's all I can tell you about that, so now its onto...

OTHER NEWS: My glasses finally came back and I can actually see out of them, which is a good thing. So it means I can see again, and can get back into writing. I'm still working on The Diamond Rose 2: So Pretty On The Outside, & The Lines Of Marsden 4: The Trail Of Red Roses. I've also been semi plotting NaNoWriMo, but we all know with me by the time I sit down to write my NaNoWriMo this year it'll have changed completely... let's face it, we all know I never stick to a plan.

We've had a really hot couple of days. The poor cats (who are both 16) have really felt the heat. I'll just keep my eye on them for the next little bit and see how they are coping. They seem to be doing better today then they were yesterday, which is a good thing.

I've gotten myself some new cooking pots & pans a Flavorstone Infusion Grill, it 's like a steam grill, and a Tefal Pressure Cooker... things that will make my cooking lifer easier. I may not be the greatest cook, but I prefer cookware where nothing sticks. I've had some other Flavorstone cookware for a few years and have loved them.

We've started the renovations on the back veranda, and the house is getting painted on the outside this weekend. Well, the guys is starting. I'm not sure how long it will take him. We'll be doing more renos this weekend. I hope it's not too hot or too windy, or else we'll all be in cranky moods... or that could just be me. Anyhoo, I'm outa here, I'll catch you all on a whole other day.

Figuring Shit Out...

I'm still figuring out how all the new crap on the computer works.... Techno savvy I am not...

And then, every time I smile and say, "I've got this." the damn thing updates, and I don't got this no more. Why the hell does a new computer need so many updates? Anyway, no use complaining as no one has time to listen.

Recently I wrote down the name of every book, series, back burner book in my to be written pile and sent it to my beta reader so that James A can help me keep track. I need to get back into the swing of writing. and he will keep me on track with which books/series need to be done. Speaking of stories. I still haven't heard anything back from Fireborn Publishing about Moon Runners 2: I Won't Let You Go... so still keep your crossables crossed for me.

We will be starting the next stage of renovations on the house this weekend so I'm hoping it won't take forever. This picture is of my music set up area. It used to be Emily's office, but seeing as she has her own place I now have all my CD's & Records in there so I can listen to them when I want. I bought the kitchen hutch and it fit in perfectly. The books are my my David Bowie collection on the bottom and a few other artists on the shelf above. The Jon Bon Jovi Picture is Emily's... but it fit in so there it sits. It goes well with my other wall that faces the kitchen hutch.

I Have A Headache...

I have a headache... I think part of it is partly because of the concussion I gave myself a couple of days ago... But part of it is I'm due for new glasses and my eyes keep popping in and out of focus. It's driving me nuts, but I have an eye test this Wednesday.

Other than that I've been working on one of my young adult series: Preternatural High (series name may change if I can think of a better one). I've sent it off to one of my editors for a look see to see if the whole thing makes sense... or whether it should go back into the back-burner books for awhile.

I will keep you all updated as I hear more. I've never written anything like it before. I just really want to give it a try... well, at least I think I do. You know I will talk more about it as time goes by. Okay, I'll give you another update when I hear back about my idea.

Tuesday Teaser: Mountain Made

Not sure if this one is a goer... this is one is set down for a little further down the track. So please excuse any punctuation stuff-ups... and feel free to let me know what you think. As in should I keep this one or should I toss it straight into the bin and start over. Trust me you won't hurt my feelings as I often toss stories out and start over, and hopefully second tome around they are better.

Chapter One

“Momma told me when I was young. To treat people the way I want to be treated.” Tobias Kern leant down and scratched behind his faithful dog, Luc’s ear. Up here in his mountain home Luc was the best friend Tobias had. So talking to him just came natural like. It didn’t matter if Luc couldn’t answer back, but he sure was a good listener, and that was all that mattered.

“I’ve been thinking that people are cracked in the head, Luc. Maybe that’s why we stick close to home and don’t bother with them. Only thing is, is lately I’ve been a might lonely. I sure wish there was someone to talk back to me. You’re my best friend, boy, but even you must crave your own kind once in a while.”

Sitting on the front porch Tobias thought about life. He couldn’t do much about his loneliness but he could go into town and adopt a friend for Luc. There were always shelters with animals in need of a good home, and at least Tobias and Luc had that to offer. If they left early in the morning, they could be on their way home by nightfall.

Tobias stood. “Come on, buddy, let’s go and see if we can’t find someone to keep us company. Winter will be coming soon and we’ll be snowed in before you know it.

* * * *

The sun was beating down in the car park as Tobias exited his truck and waited for Luc to join him. Even though the sun was brutal, the wind had a chill factor that let everyone know winter was well and truly on the way. At least the shelter carpark was dirt so there was no scorching hot bitumen to scald Luc’s paws. Tobias needed Luc there to find an animal that was compatible with them both. No use rescuing another pet if the two animals were going to be growling at each other the whole time.

As he opened the front doors Tobias glanced toward the counter and saw the woman behind the desk talking to a young man who was obviously—if going by the tears streaking down his face—was surrendering his dog. Luc must have sensed what was going on as he headed straight for the young man and sat at his feet.

“I don’t want to give her up, but I can’t afford to keep her with my current situation. I lost my job, my home, and my family all in the same day. I’ve been struggling to make it, but I can’t look after myself let alone Bessy here.” The guy was babbling. There was no doubt about it.

The guy looked to be in his early twenties not that much younger than Tobias’s own thirty-one years. He wondered what the guy’s story was, but knew it would be rude to butt into the conversation. When the young man placed his pet on the floor Tobias watched on as Luc curled himself around the sweet little angel. If he didn’t know any better he’d think it was love at first sight. Maybe his coming here today was a sign. Somehow he was meant to be in this exact spot to meet Bessy and her owner.

When the phone rang, the shelter worker excused herself to answer. Tobias reached out and gently laid a hand on the younger man’s shoulder. “Come and sit a spell and tell me your trouble. A problem shared and all that…” Tobias nudged the guy in the directions of the waiting rooms. Both dogs following closely behind them to once again curl up at their feet.

“What’s your name? Mine’s Tobias Anderson.” Tobias began, hoping it would help the stranger open up.

“Greggory Hale, but everyone calls me Gregg.” A shuddering breath was audible and for some reason Tobias wanted to step in and help this stranger out.

Tobias smiled what he hoped was reassuringly. “Well, Gregg, why don’t you tell me what’s going on and maybe we can help each other out.”

“What do you want to know?”

“Why don’t you start with the reason you are here trying to give this pretty little girl up for adoption?” Tobias spoke calmly again wanting Gregg to open up and talk, it was obvious the guy needed to tell someone what was going on.”

Gregg nodded, “It’s my birthday today, and it totally sucks. A month ago I was living the good life. I had a family who loved me. We still all lived on the family ranch, and worked it together. Then I did something stupid and it lost me everything.”

“What did you do?” whatever it was it couldn’t be all that bad.

As he swiped at his tear filled eyes Gregg murmured, “I got caught kissing one of the ranch workers. My dad lost it big time and threw my ass off the ranch. I only have Bessy now because she followed behind. Id’ stopped on the side of the road and she came trotting up and stopped beside the door. I couldn’t take her back. I had to take her with me.”

Tobias frowned at what he heard. How could a father throw away a child—no matter how old they were—just because they were caught kissing an employee? “Is that the whole of it? You kissed an employee. Was it against the rules, or something?”

“A male ranch hand. And yes for my family that is the biggest sin of them all. I have three brother and a sister and not one of them stood up for me. My mother turned her back so she didn’t have to see me walk away. I was given fifteen minutes to pack my gear and get off ranch lands before my father took stronger measures.”

“Where have you been living since then?”

Gregg shrugged, “Here and there. My car mostly. My money is running out quickly and I hate having to turn in Bessy, but she’s better off without me.”

A plan of action began to form in Tobias’s mind. “What I think is you need someplace off the beaten path to get your head together and figure out where you’re at. Maybe we can help each other out. It looks like my Luc has taken a shine to your Bessy. What would you think about coming home with me for a spell until you work stuff out. I should warn you. I live up the mountain and once winter sets in you’ll be stuck there for the duration.”
