Day 180: Skip Bin Day

Today we'll make a big dent in getting rid of stuff. Hopefully we'll only need the one skip bin.

I'll be glad when the rubbish we have just fits in the normal house bin. and when all the stuff is out of the front drive/parking. Sadly, I didn't take into account the crows and their curiosity.

Getting this much cleaned might not seem like a big deal to most, but for me it's like I accomplishing something. Laugh at me if you will; but it makes me feel good.

It's not as hard for me to get rid of things as it is for some others in the house. I'm under the assumption if we haven't used it in over a year than it definitely isn't needed.

Day 179: Rearranging Garage

I need to rearrange the garage to fit the stuff in easier... and pull all the stuff for the skip bin out into the front drive/parking space. It will free up a lot of the floor space in the garage.

I'll also get a chance to rearrange the shelving and sort everything into its proper placing. It will make me feel a little better having at least that much done.

I'm trying to make room for the dryer in the garage, so it can get out of the laundry. At the moment it's blocking on of the door. A door I want to be able to use. one that leads straight from the laundry and out to the clothesline.

Making meat and vegies for lunch. Something to fill us up and keep us going.

Day 178: Sorting Day

Today we start the major sort through. We have two days before the skip bin arrives. Si I want to go through as much as possible to make sure that it's ready to start filling up the skip bin.

Is it weird that I'm both dreading and looking forward to finally sorting through it all. making the house one step closer to being done.

I'm going to force my daughter into helping me, seeing as it's her mess we'll be sorting through. Mostly it will be too small clothes of the kids that need to be donated and then stuff to be bagged for the skip bin.

The three granddaughters all have swimming lessons in the morning. So, we probably won't get started until after lunch. A bit annoying, but some days I just have to go with the flow.

Day 177: Freezer Day

Today one of the jobs on my list is to clean out all of the freezers. I want to know what's in them. I mean, we might as well use all of the stuff we have before going out and buying new stuff and doubling up.

Graceful and Hurricane were getting awards today. Monsoon is going to under 8's day at her cousin's school.

It's absolutely freezing here today. I just want to stay curled up under a rug and read, but I have too much to do. It won't get done if I don't do it. Also going to try and get the patch of grass at the back of tank done today. I want it all clear for when the guy eventually turns up to service our hot water system.

Day 176: Bunnings Trip #2

After watching a few videos, I realize I have to go back to Bunnings and buy a few extra things... as well as hinges to build the new gate.

I finally got the few things in the kitchen swapped around that I needed doing. I'm at the point that I feel like the more I clean the bigger mess I'm making.

Each time it starts to get overwhelming, I go out and do one battery on the whipper snipper or mower. At least then I can come back in with a clear head and look at the problem from a new point of view.

The neighbour across the road came over and looked at a few things. during the school holidays he is coming over to take a few things away for us, and to pull out a dead tree that is in the way. At least with all the stuff gone from the yard, it will be easier to maintain.

Day 175: Bunnings Trip #1

I picked up the supplies to paint the interior walls. I have things I need to get done before our new scheduled house inspection.

1. Repair and repaint any walls that need it.
2. Hire a skip bin.
3. Slash the paddock.
4. Whipper snip around the tank and under the clothesline.
5. Remove all unwanted items from the yard.
6. Build a side gate. to keep the kids in the yard

As well as any other general cleaning that needs to be done. I'm now hopeful that I'll have time to get done.

Day 142: Almost Back To Normal

I have to buy a couple of things to help with the packing and moving. like plastic storage tubs and some plastic shelf lining to put in the next linen cupboard.

Under 8's day at my granddaughter's school. I gave it a miss to catch up on some house chores. I think with my new revised schedule I'll get back on track with the moving.

I went through the house and packed up as much as I can. I might not get it moved over today, but at least it will be done and ready to go for tomorrow.

Day 172: Kitchen Done

Today I'm determined to get the kitchen finished. Meaning, I need to finish putting all the double-ups into the excess pantry and clean out the last cupboard. It's driving me insane that every time I clear the bench, I seem to fill it straight back up again. I know that in about two or three weeks I'll be able to relax fully because everything will be done.

I'm also going to be fixing up the chicken ornament cupboard, I need to put down some non-slip matting for them all to sit on, at least that's a job that will only take me a short amount of time.

The bad thing is I have a headache today and I'm not feeling 100%. I'm just going to have to slog through it and get what needs doing - done.

Day 171: Swimming Day

While the girls were at swimming, I decided to tackle the oh so fun job of cleaning out the fridges before we go and do the shopping this afternoon. It was horrible. at least I know it will never get that way again, as I always clean them the day before shopping day.

Monsoon also has a birthday party to attend across the road. She's going to be a nightmare to deal with when she gets home.

I did a bit more in the kitchen/dining room... it seems to be never ending. I have to keep telling myself I will get there in the end.

Day 170: Crisis Averted

Disaster was upon me, and I almost had a mental breakdown; but in the end I had to do a factory reset. Okay, last night my granddaughter (Monsoon 3); got a hold of my phone and did something to it so that I was flooded with ads every 5 seconds. It took me hours this morning trying to get it all back to normal.

Now I just have to re-downloaded everything that I had before. It's a pain in the arse, because I honestly can't remember what I had on my phone.

I'm still unpacking and setting up the house. There is still so much to do. I'll get there eventually. I'm just tired as hell. I wish it was this time next week/month and all the hard work would be over and done with. It's freaking hard work moving house.

Okay, I'll catch you with you tomorrow.

Day 169: Tired As Hell

I woke up tired today with the daunting task of beginning the whole unpacking process. The fight to fit two households into one is a real struggle. So today I put it off and did the washing and some yardwork instead. Though, inside I did clean out one of the main bookcases. It's the one right beside the front door, and the first thing everyone sees. I need to have it clean, neat and tidy.

Today I let the cats outside for the first time. Very happily they didn't run away... which is always a worry when you move house. Oliver did a whole explore of the yard and paddock. Robson just did a quick look around and was straight back inside.

I've decided that I need to take out time each day just for myself. I need to catch up on me time. But that will have to wait until after I have finished all the unpacking and cleaning of the house.

Day 167: Small Break

Today in between setting up our lounge room and doing some of the kitchen. I took a break from cleaning the old house. I can get back to that tomorrow. My back is killing me. I mainly just want our end of the house to be set up and finished, before I tackle the rest of the house.

It's hard getting anyone to help me. all the kids want to do is create mess while I want to put it all away. I will be happier when I have the kitchen/Dining room clear of clutter.

The cats are going stir crazy being locked up inside the house all day and night. I'll be glad when they can go outside again. I need to find a spot to set up their feeding station. It'll be easier to do when they can get back to their routine. It's hard right now while there is so much clutter everywhere.

Day 166: Slashing

Today, I got the whipper snipping finished (my neighbour leant me his snipper as mine couldn't get through the tough glass).  I also got the walls washed and then hired the slasher guys = luckily for me they had a spot open then and there. And one less job I have to worry about.

Even though this is a nice house. It will be better once we get settled as there are no stairs; easier for mum to navigate. I just have to train the kids not to leave their messes laying all over the place. Meaning, I'll have to teach them to pick up after themselves.

Another good thing is that the new house is warmer than the old house. at least with it being warmer, I'll be able to sleep better.

Day 165: Moving Day

Today is the moving day. I'm hoping to get it all done in 2 or 3 loads... seeing as we only have a small trailer like this. I've already moved a shit ton of our stuff over (via my own car).

I was hoping to get it done hassle free, but when there are so many people helping there are bound to be some tough moments. At least we got it done. Now the scary part is trying to get it all into the house.

I at least got mine and Mum's bedrooms set up, and half the lounge room. It's a start... I wonder how long it's going to take me to get the rest of the house organised.

Day 164: Hurricane's Birthday Party

Busy day today. Hurricane is having a party even though her birthday is actually Wednesday. So while everyone is at the party. I'm going to be whipper snipping more of my yard and packing up my car ready to take over this morning and then come back and repack it ready to go in the morning.

I'm tired of all the mess everywhere. I just want it all to be done and everything back to normal.

I feel like there is so much to get done and no time to do it all in. The help I thought I was getting was very far and few between. I don't recommend moving when you have to do everything yourself.

Day 163: Running Out Of Time

Today we moved all the stuff out of the room mum will be using at the new house and put it all into the lounge room. I also took over another load.

I whipper snipped some more of the yard. I wish the snipper was a bit stronger as it would make the work so much easier and faster.

I also had Monsoon and Hurricane in the afternoon while Graceful was at dance. Hard to get anything done with the kids around. I'm tired all the time. I'm running out of energy and time to get everything done.

Day 162: Getting It Done

Getting as much of the whipper snipping done as I can. I don't want to have to pay for someone to come in and do it. I can tell you my upper arms and my armpits are as sore as hell from all the packing, cleaning, and yard work that I've been doing. It will all be worth it in the end.

In between doing everything I have been reading Patricia Briggs (Mercy Thompson) of a night to unwind.

Day 161: Took A Gutsa

Today while whipper snipping the driveway; I stepped into a pothole the wrong way and tumbled head over heels. The whipper snipper went flying and nearly landed in the neighbour's yard. I ended up falling on my left knee, left shoulder, and smashed the left side of my face into the drive. I even managed to warp my glasses in the process. Not a good day. instead of resting, I had to pick myself up and dust myself off and keep on whipper snipping. even though I'm aching all over.

Day 160: Cats

Why is it when you are so busy trying to get stuff done the pets (in my case - cats) decide it would be the best time to act out. my youngest cat has decided now would be a good time to catch mice and bring them inside. The cats are smart, they know we're moving and are freaking out a little bit (I assume).

Also, we have some kind of wild animals digging up holes all over our lawn... pains in the arse... and seeing as I haven't actually seen what they are I don't know how to stop them.

Even worse, I have an ear infection. So I'm not feeling 100% today. It's not the best time for me to be sick.

Day 158: Good News & Bad News

The good news: is that one of my neighbours took pity on me and finished mowing my driveway... I still have to whipper snip it, but it's cut a whole days work out for me, so thank you kind neighbour.

The bad news: is that I still have to get back out and whipper snip the long gulley. Let's just hope I don't fall down it again today.

At some stage I also have to find time to do a quick run downtown and pick up some stuff. I hate going out when I have so much work to do. I guess I'll just have to wear my yard working clothes.
