Day 109: Easter

Okay, I'm still not feeling the best but today I'm cooking mum a baked dinner for Easter lunch today. She will enjoy it. I'll make sure there is enough for her to have a second meal tomorrow.

Today I started making some lists for when we move house:

1. What I need help moving.

2. What I can move myself (which is about 75% of it).

3. What chores I need to get done for exiting this house.

4. What chores I need to get done before setting up in the new place (seeing as we will be moving in with my daughter and granddaughters).

5. what to keep &/or get rid of at each house.

Day 108: Still Not Well

Still feeling crook, but I have shit that needs doing. So today I dragged myself out of bed and got things done.

I didn't get any writing done, but I did putter around the house and tidy up with everything I had let slide after the last few days. I hate the house being messy.

I also had Hurricane while her mum took her friend to the hospital because she had a sore throat... I'm nearly dying, and I get to look after the kids while her friend needs the hospital. Doesn't matter that I was too tired to watch the kids. (Yes, I know I'm griping, I'm sick and I'm allowed). Don't get me wrong. I love my granddaughters... just not when I'm sick and worn out.

Day 107: Good Friday

Today is a day for eating fish. I might not follow a great many of the catholic teachings, but I do not eat read meat or any other meat except fish on Good Friday.

Though today I'm really sick, so I'll be spending the day in bed trying to recover some energy. I might work some more on my handwritten notes if I feel up to it.

Day 106: Sick & Busy

I'm still sneezing, coughing, and wheezing. And as much as I want to have a restful day, I have a mega ton of stuff I need to get done.

1. De-cobweb the whole house.
2. Downtown to pick up a few things for mum.
3. Looked after granddaughters while their mum helped one of her friends.
4. I also worked on writing up some notes on a new story idea.

I think I will try and have an early night tonight, and now I have said that... I'll probably end up with insomnia.

Day 105: Happy Birthday Caleb

Happy Birthday, Caleb! I don't remember how old you are because I stopped counting a long time ago. None the less I hope you have a freaking awesome day.

Today: I'm feeling a tad better, though I'm still wheezing and coughing. I'll have to get my daughter to get the kids easter baskets out of the top of the linen cupboard. At least we won't have to go out and buy new one. I'll have to get my daughter to go and pick me up some water today.

Hopefully, by the time the weekend gets here, I'll be much better. I had to ring up and book Mum into the dentist, with all the upcoming public holidays. She can't get in until April 28th.

Today my big job is to fold up the laundry, because I'm going to have to try and wash the bedding again soon. After being sick they start to smell dank and in need of refreshing.

Day 104: Butter wouldn't melt in his mouth

Looking at the sweetheart you would think he was an adorable angel. Well, I'm here to tell you right now that this little sh*thead had another case of the annoying zoomies last night. While the rest of us just wanted to sleep he ran laps of the house. Then once we're all awake, he decides to curl up in ball on the end of my bed sleep the day away.

I know I'm probably only complaining because I still feel like crap... But, for the love of Mike, he's seven years old. He should have grown out of this crap by now; shouldn't he have? (Is that even written right?)

On a good note, I didn't have to sleep sitting up for the whole night. I managed to spend half the night laying down like a normal person. Okay, well I'm out of here for today, because I need to go and take my medicine and painkillers. Because I did wake up sneezing up a storm again.

Monday, 14 April 2025

Day 103: Still Sick

I'm not going to spend my time whinging about being sick. Because let's face it, there is a lot of people worse off than I am.  I'm at the point now where I'm more wheezing and coughing than anything else. Though I did lose 1.1kg (2.43lbs) this week.

I don't have the energy to or wherewithal to concentrate on anything for long periods of time. So, I have been attempting to watch a bit of TV and getting up and checking on my mum (93). On a good note, I haven't had to look after Cyclone, Hurricane, and Monsoon.

I have done some looking for new recipes. I have saved them and over the next few weeks/months; mum and I will give them a go. Then I made a list of all the ingredients that I don't currently have; or seeing which ones are most recurring in each of the saved recipes.

I need to buy some more containers to be able to freeze the meals. I can tell you it was a good feeling while I was sick just to be able to pull out a frozen meal each day for Mum to have a hot meal, and for me not to have to stand at the stove cooking. Once I'm well again, I am going to have to restock the meals.

Sunday, 13 April 2025

Day 102: Sick Again

I didn't get as much done yesterday as I hoped, because as the day progressed, I got sicker and sicker. Today I feel like I'm coughing up a lung, and I can hardly swallow or talk. My head is pounding. my eyes don't want to stay open... To quote a line from one of my favourite miniseries, "Those summer colds are the worst." Now if I start to see an abundance of crows I'm going to start to panic.

Though in all seriousness I really feel like crap so I'm probably going to rest today and only make sure my mum is fed, and she has what she needs for the day. I'm too tired to do anything else. I know I should suck it up and power on... but sometimes, your body just needs rest, and today mine does.

So, this is short and sweet, and I'll catch you all tomorrow.

Saturday, 12 April 2025

Day 101: Back in the Yard

Today I have to get back out and do some more mowing. First, I have to do a stick pick in the section I want to mow today. I don't want another accident when a bit of branch shot out and hit me in the leg. Luckily, Monsoon came around and doctored me up. Meaning, she got one of her nappy wipes and wiped the crap out of my leg.

My driveway is still too wet to even attempt to mow. I hope it dries out soon, because I hate it being messy.

I also have to fold up all the dry laundry and put it away. Though once the girls go home, (after Monsoon goes swimming), I'm going to pull all the tubs out from under my bed and clean them all out. I'm looking for some story notes and I don't know where I put them.

I also want to get at least one of the venetian blinds cleaned in the house. It's too big of a job if I have to try and do them all in one day.

Friday, 11 April 2025

Day 100: Sleepover Night... Yay, What Fun

I only have Cyclone and Hurricane. Monsoon is going to be staying at their dad's house. Apparently, he can't have them all at once. So, I have to have the other two. I hate looking after them when they aren't feeling well because they are so bitchy to one another, and then I get mad... I don't like getting mad.

I'm just putting it out there right now that there will be no Captain Underpants... Because I am so over that show.

Cooking my sloppy peas to freeze today. Let's hope this is a good batch. Sometimes that they stay a little crunchy. Still edible, but a few crunchy ones among the rest of the deliciousness.

I have to duck downtown and grab a frozen pizza, because I know that's exactly what Cyclone will want for dinner. Hurricane may want the same, but then again, she may want pasta, or nuggets, or sausage and mashed potatoes.

Thursday, 10 April 2025

Day 99: Meal Plans

Today I have been looking for different recipes to try. I'm not very adventurous when it comes to cooking/ eating. Mum and I have decided we are going to try at least one new meal a week/fortnight. All depends what ingredients I need. I might have to buy some.

So, I have been trying to work out meal plans for the week/fortnight. One where I can mix the days around, depending on what my mum wants to eat. She's 93 and trust me at her age she gets what she wants. She usually doesn't ask for much. I do have to cook a couple of things that I personally don't eat, (prawns, lamb, pork), but that's okay as long as she's happy.

I really have to do a thorough stock take of my pantry and freezer. though to be honest my freezer is mainly filled with meals that I have made. So, I know exactly what's in each and every dish. Today I made red Rice to freeze and put on the split peas to soak so I can cook them tomorrow to freeze, (so much easier to pull out and reheat) when I'm having a baked dinner, or silver side then having to stand there cooking the sloppy peas every time.

On another note: Cyclone, Hurricane, and Monsoon are all sick. Thank God, it is school holidays, and they can rest, and not be missing actual school days.

Wednesday, 9 April 2025

Day 98: Grocery Shopping

Today it's a game of how much is going to be on the shelves and what I'm going to have to pay for it to be able to eat this fortnight. I can't believe how much food has goon up since we've had all this rain. I can understand it, because of crop damage etc, but I don't have to like it. Especially when I'm a pensioner. But we have to do what we have to do to survive. It just means I get creative with meals... meaning, I make meals where I'm able to freeze a portion to have at a later date.

I also freeze left over pasta (un-sauced) and rice into portion sized packets to pull out and put into stews and soups... no wastage. Rice is always good to have already cooked in the freezer if I decide on the spur to make tuna patties.

This time I'm going through pantry, fridge and freezer so I don't buy stuff I already have. I know I've said it before, and I'll probably say it again. We all have to start shopping smarter. My daughter and I have taken to buying the big bags of carrots, and capsicums and just halving them because it's cheaper.

If I have extra gravy (homemade) left over, I freeze it and if my daughter asks hey mum do you have any gravy. I just point at the freezer. I usually just mark it with whatever it is. L, B, or C. As they say, sharing is caring. In this day and age every little bit helps.

So, wish me luck with my shopping and let's hope It doesn't cost me an arm and a leg, as well as my left kidney. Oh, to make matters worse; it's school holidays (Easter). We're going to have Cyclone, Hurricane, and Monsoon with us as well as having to contend with any other child shopping with their parents...oh what fun...not!

Day 97: Organization

I am one of those people who like to work from lists. whether it has to do with my writing, or it is the household chores, or even just the plain old shopping list. Yes, I has a notebook I keep in my bag just for that very thing (the shopping list that is).

I like to do at least three chores off the list per day. I have a big yard, and a small battery-operated push mower. So, I allot myself one battery life (Approx 20 minutes) of mowing each day and two other chores. With all the rain we've had the mowing has fallen by the wayside, but I'll be heading out there shortly to try and play catch up. So, today's chore list would be:
  1. Mow 1 battery
  2. wipe out the pantry shelves and put oldest stock to the front
  3. Change mum's bedding for cooler weather (Add extra doona, her under blanket and flannel sheets)
In my writing I'm just hoping to get at least 2-3 K written, but that will have to come after I have done the other chores. It's coming up cloudy again, so I better go and at least get the mowing in before then.

Day 96: Weird Weather

The weather has been so weird lately. One minute it's hot. The next it's cold. Then it alternates between raining and sunny days. It's like jumping from 15° to 35°.

Worked on Hayden Falls 1: Christmas Wishes Comes With Kisses. If my damn cat tries to eat my computer again, I don't know what to do he's seven. He should have grown out of this crap by now.

I have to clean out my fridge today. I noticed there are crumbs all through it again, so I want to wash it all out, and I have to refill the ice cube trays. I also noticed from all the rain there is some mold starting on the bathroom wall near the window. So, I'll have to get that done today

Today mum has decided on steak sandwiches with chips (fries). So, it will be an easy one today.

Sunday, 6 April 2025

Day 95: Damn Cat

Robson (my cat) had another fricken night of running all over the house. So, I've now had two nights on minimal sleep... Yay, what fun... Not.

Worked on Hayden Falls1: Christmas Wishes Comes With Kisses. Only doing little bits as my head is pounding today.

I did the washing today: 3 loads at least I could hang it all on the inside lines.

Today's doco watch was on the disappearance of sister Cathy and abuse in the catholic church. And one on the Son of Sam. And one on the Cecil hotel, but I'll have to finish that one tomorrow.

Today mum wanted fish (barramundi) and salad for lunch today another awesome meal. We also had a microwave potato.

I hope I get a better night's sleep tonight.

Saturday, 5 April 2025

Day 94: Tired As Hell

Tired because my shithead of a cat Robson (the youngest one) decided to run around the house like a freaking nutter. From the moment the lights went out until the time I let them out in the morning me had the zoomies and jumpies. Drove me nuts all night long.

Just because I could I cooked my mum a baked dinner today. It was bloody delicious. Chicken, roast veg (pumpkin, potato, onion, carrot, and sloppy peas), and homemade gravy.

Monsoon rang me up just to ask me if she could have a chee-hoo

I have been watching some serial killer and murder documentaries. It was so interesting how clever they think they are and how they finally get caught out. Makes me wonder what the hell goes through their minds.

Worked on Hayden Falls 1: Christmas Wishes Comes With Kisses. But I've had a bad headache and a sore back today.

Friday, 4 April 2025

Day 93: Update Day

This is what it feels like most days in my house. Would you believe my oldest cat decided he wanted my seat and wouldn't stop annoying me until I got up and moved seats. Then the youngest cat decided he wanted me to sit in the bedroom while he lay on the bed, so he did the same whole annoying thing until I moved to the bedroom.

I blame it on the freaking wet weather... yes, you guessed it, it's raining.

I forgot to tell you. The night Monsoon slept over she ended up sleeping for 14 hours straight. And then spent the next day with me while her mum was at work. At least the flooding went down some and Hurricane and Cyclone could get to school.

Today I'm back to working on Hayden Falls 1: Christmas Wishes Comes with Kisses and watching NYC murder cases.

Today is also Hurricane and Cyclone's last day of school before the Easter holidays. At least their mum will be home to look after them.

Thursday, 3 April 2025

Day 92: Happy Birthday Sis.

Happy Birthday, Brenny.
May you have a better day tomorrow.
Because I know today is going to suck.

Wednesday, 2 April 2025

Day 91: Unexpected Sleepover

Today I had Hurricane and Monsoon after school, because Aunty Yace was flooded in. Lucky for me both girls fell asleep. Hurricane work up, when her mum and Cyclone pulled up after dance practice. Monsoon didn't. So, guess who's getting a sleep over.

They were a bit miffed that it was still raining so they were still stuck inside. Yes, while Hurricane watched her videos on my phone. I was stuck watching Twirly Woos with Monsoon. Also, about three hours of her laying on me, sticking her face in mine and asking, "Can I get a Chee Hoo." Over and over while laughing her head off. All I can say is thank God I'm having trouble with Disney+, or I'd be stuck watching Moana 2 over and over.

I worked on Hayden Falls 1: Christmas Wishes Comes with Kisses... in longhand.

Also watching murders in LA and NYC and how they caught them... very interesting. Some I even remember being on TV. Or I recognise the people in the episodes.

Day 90: April Already

Today I started the day off by taking mum to her podiatry appointment. The technician was 20 minutes late; then on the way home I realized why, because mum and I got caught in roadworks for 30 minutes... a freaking pain in the ass.

Finally got home and had Monsoon waiting for me, because she didn't want to be at home while her mother tried to mow before the rain comes back this arvo. She ended up staying with me from 11am, to just after 5:30 pm when Hurricane and Cyclone finished swimming lessons... Do you understand how many times I had to watch The Minions and Twirly Woos.

Though after she left, I watched a doco on the white hats... a group of people who rescue others in the war. That one was both interesting and very sad. I would hate to live through anything like that.

I didn't get writing done today because I also had to spend most of the time reading Where's Santa's Elf while Monsoon searched for everything that needed to be found... longest 6 hours of my life.

Monday, 31 March 2025

Day 89: Miss Sassy Pants

Today I had Hurricane after school while her sister, Cyclone was at dance practice. Monsoon was visiting her Aunty Yace. And of course, it's still raining so it's as boring as hell. Let's just say Captain Underpants was watched. Though she did appreciate that I had her a big bowl of garlic potatoes and salami slices to snack on (weird combination I know).

I did have Monsoon in the morning while her mom was attending school parade, then she went home. I gave her some wipes and let her wipe over all the kitchen cupboards she had a blast.

Today while working on Hayden Falls 1: Christmas Wishes Comes with Kisses. I watched a couple of documentaries. One was on Charles Manson. for the life of me I can't figure out what made people follow him so blindly. The second one I watched was on Spies and their gadgets and how they got caught out. It was interesting and I saw just how cruel certain people/countries were when it came to warfare like that. I would never have wanted to be a spy. You can probably tell I'm just slowly making my way through all the docos on the Netflix list.

Sunday, 30 March 2025

Day 88: Chores Day

Today I have been on a cleaning kick. I'm trying to keep on top of everything. My main chore for today where...

1) Go and buy a new microwave, because the insides started peeling in mine and it was sparking up a storm.
2) I cleaned the air fryer, toaster, and kettle.
3) I also rearranged some of the pantry.
4) I did 3 loads of washing
5) Swept out twice.

I wasn't feeling the best today, so, I was surprised I got as much done as I did.

I also worked on Hayden Falls 1: Christmas Wishes comes with Kisses, because that's the story that's currently talking to me. It's easier to work on what feels right then to force a story that's not quite fully formed in my mind yet.

And yes, it's still raining on and off.

Friday, 28 March 2025

Day 86: Sleepover Day

Tonight, I have the three granddaughters sleeping over. Their mum wants to be able to make Cyclone's birthday cake and wrap the presents in peace.  So, it means I have to put up with them. Fighting over who gets to sleep in the bed and who has the blow-up mattress. I bet I end up on the couch again.

I'm really tired today... everything aches. I can't even tell you what hurts the most, because it all hurts... getting old sucks.

Today I'll be cleaning out under both the kitchen and bathroom sinks. As I want to find out what cleaning products I have, what is almost out, and needs restocking, or what I have in abundance.

I also have to vacuum the couch off, to get the cat hair off. Even though I have pets, I still like to make sure that they don't shed too much. It only takes a few moments of my time to get it done.

Today I will also clean the bathroom out... My house just seems to get really dusty. It's a never-ending chore to get on top of it. The wet weather isn't helping; it just makes everything feel damp and the dust sticks to it.

Also going to try and get some work done on Woden's Wolves 3: When Everything Shattered.

Thursday, 27 March 2025

Day 85: Little Things

Today I have Monsoon come and stay with me while her mum is off at work (the teacher's aide one). So today she is going to help me do my chores.

We are going to be rearranging my kitchen drawers = put everything where they are meant to go. Nobody but me seems to put things back where they go.

Weare going to wash off the front verandah wall. it would seem my three granddaughters have spilt something all over it. So, it has to come off before the ants descend upon us.

We're going to restock the baskets under my TV it's where I keep all the wipes, spare notebooks, socks, grandkid's clothes, and spare bedding for my room.

We're going to tidy out the fridge and freezer. Again, people need to learn where everything goes. I might be a little OCD when it comes to those sorts of things. I swear to God people put them in the wrong place just to mess with me... or because my mum is 93 and just doesn't give a rats ar*e.

Wednesday, 26 March 2025

Day 84: Still Raining

This morning, I woke up to the sounds of thunder. It didn't last long, but the clouds did roll in; and it rained nearly all day. which only makes the whole place smell dank.

Today is grocery shopping day for the fortnight. I seem to get half the amount of stuff and pay twice as much as I used to. The shelves still aren't fully stocked. So, we might have to be creative in our cooking for a while. I'm also making meals where I can freeze the leftovers for another day.

I also have to pick Hurricane up after school, as Cyclone is going to dance, and Monsoon is at her bestie's (Anty Yace)... truth is I almost forgot. luckily her mum reminded me, and I got there in time. We came home and watch Captain Underpants. Apparently, I'm the only one who doesn't complain when she wants to watch it.

My feet and back are so sore today. It hurts so much to stand and walk. Not even helping if I rest them.

My big chore for today was to switch out all my mum's bedding. The cat, Robson decided it would be a good place to throw up. the little shi*head. Luckily, he did it in the day and not during the middle of the night... Yay, what fun...Not.

Tuesday, 25 March 2025

Day 83: Quick Update & Other Things

I'm tired today. I can't seem to get any decent sleep. no matter how I try it seem to elude me. I'm averaging about three hours a night. I'm sitting here watching my cats and feeling envious that they can just lay down and fall asleep anywhere.

I've watched two 8 episodes series on Netflix recently. The first was The Irregulars> which was series set back in early days of London, where 5 teenagers solve paranormal crimes. for Dr Watson (Sherlock Holmes) ... it was interesting. the second was a series called The Residence> about a murder at the white house during a state dinner... it was pretty funny.

It's been raining on and off all day long. I can tell you; I'm getting tired of it. It's not even smelling nice anymore. Now it just smells dank. I need it to dry out for a bit.

Today I've been working on Woden's Wolves MC 3: When Everything Shattered. It's the story that's speaking to at the moment. So, it's the story that I'm going to write. I'm afraid that's the way my brain is working at the moment. I decided instead of fighting it. I'll go with the flow and see where it takes me.

Sunday, 23 March 2025

Day 82: Another one Done

I'll start off by saying that I managed to get the 5K added wordage into Cotter's Girls 1: TASH...  and I have decided to finish Crossroads 1: The Smile Made Me Do It. So, I'm happy that I'm mostly back on track with my writing schedule

We have another overcast and drizzly day. I might love the rain, but it's a pain in the ar*e because I can't get out and mow. Once again, my wash will have to be hung inside

My big chore for today is to get the spiderwebs down and mop my floors; even though I hate mopping when it's damp out because they take so long to dry.

Hurricane was so excited on Friday when she came home from swimming lessons, and she had been moved up a level. I had little Monsoon while the other two went swimming. So, she was on my old tablet and doing her work like Mar-Mar (me). She was so proud of herself.

Today I'm also cooking up pasta sauce so I can portion it out into meal sizes and freeze it for later use. It always tastes better when it's been cooked for a while... well, at least I think it does.

Friday, 21 March 2025

Day 80: I hate being sick

Today is snuggle up with a nit beverage and read kind of day. My damn cold is back. I think I must nearly be due for my flu shot, or something.

I'll take my time doing my chores today. I can't get out and mow because its overcast and drizzly. So, the grass is wet. Which is good because I don't have to go out and water the plants today. My chilli bush is thriving, and the new parsley plants are doing good.

Writing wise: Yesterday, I finished The Dark Frost 2: Running Home to You; and I started doing the 5K flesh out on Cotter's Girls 1: Tash. I'm hoping I actually finish it today. Next on my agenda will be finishing off one of the other books on my working on now list. Either Elsewhere Realms 2: Stepping Through Cracks... or Crossroads 1: The Smile Made Me Do It. I guess you'll know in the next couple of posts.

Thursday, 20 March 2025

Day 79: Now & Next

Just another awesome picture to start off this post. I must admit I really love crows, ravens, and any other black birds.

Today I'm on the tail end of Dark Frost 2: Running home to you. I'm hoping to have it finished today. It turned out a little different than even I had anticipated.

Next, I'll definitely go back and do a slight rework of Cotter Girls 1: TASH and flesh it out some because being 5K short is annoying the hell out of me.

If it doesn't rain, I'm going out to mow a bit of my paddock, before the grass gets too long again. If I do a bit every day it should keep it down.

I'm also going to sweep and mop my floors. they really need it. mind you I usually sweep every day; just with all the wind it forever feels like the floors are covered in dust and considering I don't wear shoes in the house, I hate the feel of it.

Wednesday, 19 March 2025

Day 78: A little bit brisk

Even though we aren't yet in our cold months. We woke up to a real chilly morning, so it is long pants and a jumper kind of day. I might even have to put some socks on and my beanie.

I'm heading toward 40K on Dark Frost 2: Running Home to You. It's just taken on a twist that I wasn't expecting. and now I have to figure out how to get it back on track.

I can't slack off again. I want to get the stories written this year that I had planned on getting finished. My goal is by the end of the year to have a few series nearly almost finished before I start subbing them out to different places.

My new neighbours moved in this week. I haven't met them as yet and considering we don't exactly live side by side. I probably won't. I can remember when I was a kid. we knew all of our neighbours. These days we rarely even speak to the people we live near. I kind of miss the old days.

I have to pick up Hurricane form school today, because she no longer attends dance, and has requested to stay at my house so we can watch movies together... Oh what fun.

Tuesday, 18 March 2025

Day 77: Back in the swing of things

This right here is what my life feels like today. I couldn't seem to concentrate on a damn thing. I had so much to do and probably only got half of it done.

As you know I finished Dark Frost 1: Accidentally Yours... and I'm back to working on #2: Running Home to You. which I'm hoping to have finished by this weekend at some stage. By the time #2 is finished that will be 3 books complete for this year.

I want to go back through Cotter Girls 1: TASH and add at least 5K to it. I think it may be lacking in some parts; where I believe it needs more clarification.

I'm tired today. there is a virus going around and I feel like I may be coming down with it. I hope not, but I feel run down. It didn't help its hot today.

Hurricane has really sore feet and legs after walking 4.2km with her mum while Cyclone had dancing yesterday. she has decided from now on she'll come and stay with me on those days.

Monday, 17 March 2025

Day 76: Happy Saint Patrick's Day

I hope today that everyone is dressed in green and enjoying the day as much as possible. May the luck of the Irish be with us all. If I wasn't feeling like crap. I would be enjoying a pint along with everyone else.

Today I've been working on The Dark Frost 1: Accidentally Yours. I have almost finished book one. I'm hoping to get all finalised so I can quickly jump back in and finish book 2: Running Home to You.

Good news: My daughter fixed her washing machine, so at least I don't have to wash anymore of her clothes. I have enough of my own. I did all the bedding yesterday (5 loads), and today I have just the normal household washing (4 loads). at least then I will be all caught up.

On that note today will have to be short and sweet because I want to get all my chores done. While I have been ill, some jobs have fallen by the wayside; and I'm determined to get caught up on them all today.

Sunday, 16 March 2025

Day 75: Chores List

Today I have to wash. Probably about 6 loads. but at least everything will be nice and clean (and that's just all the bedding).

I also have to finish taking pictures of everything the storm damaged and send to the real estate. They will put it on their to be looked at list.

Today is also the day I tackle the dreaded things on the top of my gas stove (the grate thingies) they get all sticky, and I have yet to wind anything that actually works. I'm determined to get them better than they currently are.

I also need to mop now that it's finally stopped raining, and I can do so without the floors taking forever to dry.

Today is also the day I get at least one of my venetian blinds cleaned/washed. I have 8 of the f*ckers and they are so hard to wash with causing damage to them because they bend so easily.

I also need to clean under the beds. I don't know how they get so dusty. This is a job I try and do once a week. I sweep daily, but under the beds not so much. honestly, I find it too freaking hard to get up and down to see under them.

Day 74: Clean up time

My Grandma duties are done for the day... I was right, I did end up on the couch with both cats, but at least the kids slept through the night.

I waited until after they had gone home (because I had Hurricane and Cyclone while Monsoon went to swimming) to clean up after them. Not that there was really a mess. I mainly had to make beds and deflate and put away the air mattress.

Some annoying neighbour was out riding a motor bike around and around their yard for hours. It sounded like their muffler needed fixing = it was so loud.

I made the most delicious steak burgers for me and mum for our lunch. They tasted awesome, and the steak was so tender. Still going strong on the whole only Pepsi Max with my dinner. I'm not craving it as much as I thought I would be.

My main chores today were to gather all the bedding to wash tomorrow, clean the fans, and tidy up the kitchen. I still have to do a few things in the kitchen though, like fill the salt and pepper shakers.

Day 73: Sleepover Day

My three little terrors are sleeping over again. There mum is going to a friend's birthday party. Yay, what fun... Not. it just means I will have a crappy night's sleep because all three of them are wriggle worms while they sleep. I know for sure I'll end up sleeping on the couch again, and my two cats, who can't seem to sleep on their own will climb onto the couch with me.

Also, my daughter started back at her paying job today (swimming instructor). So, I had Monsoon from early morning when the other two went to school.

No work got done (writing wise). Monsoon and I just puttered around the house doing other chores, until we took a break and watched Moana 2... I'm not sure if I like it as much as #1, but the snippet at in the credits only means there must be a #3 coming at some stage. Then Monsoon wanted to watch some Wednesday, and then Frozen #2

I also had to watch Moana 2 again with Hurricane as our bedtime movie. At least they were all asleep by 10:30 pm. Hurricane and Monsoon were snoring so loudly. I'm surprised it didn't wake Cyclone up.

Day 72: Almost back to normal

My daughter went back to work today (teacher's aide = she has work placement while she's studying). The problem was she couldn't make it back in time to pick Hurricane and Cyclone up from school in the arvo (some roads still closed due to flood water). So, I had to go and pick them up.

but at least I didn't have Monsoon because she was with her favourite cousin/aunt. That was until I got home after school and they were there waiting at my place, which meant My niece's son Tornado was there as well. As you can guess with all four kids my it is one cataclysmic storm. They all get so excited and loud. They do my freaking head in... but I still wouldn't trade them for the world.

I worked on the ever-changing story idea notes. trying to get a bit more of it sorted out before I can set it aside and get back to one of my actual stories.

Day 71: Here we go again

School definitely restarted... One granddaughter happy to go back, the other not so much. The last one wants to go but is still way too young.

I'm also hoping that the shelves of the grocery store were restocked like they told us they would be... and then figure out what we can actually afford, because they always seem to increase the prices during anything like what just happened.

With school back on that means dance has also restarted, I'll have Monsoon, while Hurricane and Cyclone go and get their groove thing on this afternoon. she can help me fold all the dry laundry.

I've been working in long hand on the notes for that new story idea (the as yet untitled one). It has changed a few times over the last few days. I know I'll get there in the end.

I'm tired today. My head is again pounding, but that could be because I smashed it on the car getting on for school drop off. I was lucky I didn't break my glasses.

Day 70: When will the crazy end.

Today there were four crows hanging around my house. I'm sure there were others but these four were just right at my house, and then they left. about an hour later I had to go to my daughter's house, and I swear the same four crows were sitting at her house on her front stoop... Awesome creatures.

I was finally able to put my pot plants back outside seeing as the wind is basically all but gone.

I also had to take picture of the embankment under the huge tree that I'm scared will fall on the house as more of it is washed away.

Had to go and TRY and buy some bread. I managed to get 1 loaf, not the kind I like, but at least mum can still have her toast. The shelves in the supermarket are super bare of the essentials. Meals might have to get a little creative for the next little bit until it gets back to normal... though the shops did say they should have more stock tomorrow.

My internet has been jumping in and out all day. Apparently, something important got damaged in the next town over. whatever it was it had to do with our telephones and internet.

I got some more of my daughter's washing done. She's hoping to have her washer fixed sometime this week. Which will be good. My daughter, and granddaughters had lunch at my place. The kids were starving... seriously, when are they not.

Good news: we did get the notification to say school is reopening tomorrow. At least now they won't be bored.

Day 69: Flooded In

I woke up to Thunder and lightning for a change. not that it lasted long, but it is a sure sign we'll get even more rain today. I might watch ghosts today (the American version).

Definitely not getting to physio. Where I have to go is under water... or they have it lapping at their doors. Even if it wasn't, I think I'm getting whatever the grandkids had. That, or my cold is making a reappearance.

I did manage to make it to one shop and get water so I'm not going to run out before they restock the shelves. Though with all the flooding around, I'm not sure when that will be, the trucks need dry roads to make the deliveries.

I decided to cook a lamb roast for lunch today... roast veggies, sloppy peas, and homemade gravy... Mum had the lamb, and I had chicken (I don't like the taste of lamb = I cooked her lamb shanks).

Trying something new to cut down on my soda intake. I limit myself to 1 can of Pepsi Max of a nighttime with, or just after my dinner. I don't know how long I will last at it, but I'm going to give it a good shot.
