What's The Goss...

Okay, I went to the doctor's today and got my flu shot like I was supposed to and then the doctor informs me she would like me to have a hearing test done... So I am booked in for 1:15 pm tomorrow.

Then I got to thinking could I live without my hearing? (Not that I think I am losing it or anything - this is just how my brain works)... So now I have story idea's with a deaf MC... and how would I write him... I mean so you would know he was deaf ... Any thoughts? Idea's?

What would it be like to live in a sea of silence for your whole life? Or how about if you didn't lose your hearing until you were a teen or an adult? Is learning sign language hard? What do you all think?

  1. It would be very strange. I use my hearing a lot to tell what is going on around me and compensate for poor peripheral vision.

    1. So do I... I have only been temporarily been deaf once and it lasted about a week... but I think that may be different to permanent loss. I was glad when mine came back... but now this idea is stuck in my head.

  2. I took sign language in college it isn't real hard to learn you just need to study the techinque. I haven't used it so I have lost most of it just like my Spanish I took in high school. But I would enjoy this story. A world of Silence?

    1. I think it would be an interesting one to write... though it didn't fit in with my vivid dream last night - so I have added 'The Sounds of Silence' to my list of stuff I need to write...
