HAHBAT - I Almost Forgot

So as you can all tell I almost forgot to do my post for this blog hop... But I suppose the old adage better late than never fits my situation. I won't go on about why I forgot just say if you want to know just read some of my previous posts.

Okay, now onto my post for this amazing blog... At this stage in my life i don't have a clue what I'm going to write about so I will go with the faithful rambling technique I've used in past years. I figure if it ain't broken then go with the flow.

The other day I was sitting at the local mall in the next city over - the kids were shopping and I was happy to sit with my kindle and read. In the end I got side tracked by people watching (come on I know I'm not the only one who participates in this activity)

Sitting across the way was this young same sex couple and I thought it was sweet the way they didn't seem to care about being in public as they sat together and cuddled in one of the chairs. I didn't see a problem with it at all. That was until other people started to comment and at first I was shocked, and then I was down right pissed, until in the end I spoke up and let them have it. Not the couple but all the bigoted arseholes that had decided they had the right to try and demean the younger couple.

The writer in me saw nothing wrong with the same sex affection. The mum in me wanted to defend the younger couple while the human in me decided to take control and tell people to shut the fuck up. At the time I was so sure I was right and stood up for my beliefs. Even though the younger couple thanked me and told me it's not the worst they have endured though really the bigotry is far and few between... The weird part is when I finally introduced myself they had actually read some of my work... Don't get me wrong, I was tickled pink, but so used to being a nobody that I was weirded out a bit.

Later on when I was at home I started to wonder if what I did was right. Should I have butted in and blew my stack at the rude strangers? Does that make me just like all of them. wasn't I trying to push my own beliefs onto them. After having an internal debate that lasted hours I thought FUCK IT!!! You know what, if I'm ever faced with the same situation. I know I'll do everything exactly the same way because I believe in EQUALITY. I believe just because you are wired to be a certain way when it comes to love, then who am I or anyone else to tell you it's wrong. It wasn't so long ago then interracial was frowned up - actually it probably still is in some places. Seriously I just want to kick the collective world up it's arse and tell everyone to wake up to them selves.

IF YOU CAN'T SAY ANYTHING NICE, THEN SHUT THE FUCK UP.

Sometimes Life Gets In The Way

<= This is how I'm feeling right about now. I have so much going on in my life that my writing time has been shoved to the back burner at least until the end of this month...if not the next.

I'm still in the midst of our company changeover and getting more stressed with each passing day. I feel like I don't know what's happening any more. I'll be more than glad when the last bit of paper has been finalised.

Then the tax ma says I owe him money when I know full well I'm paid up... and waiting on tax time to roll around (June 30th) for the next financial year to start. I hate dealing with them... I see the letters ATO and get an instant headache.

Em is moving home while the hubs is out of the country. Just so I have an extra set of hands at home. that and her blood count was a little low (fingers crossed her ITP isn't about ready to make another reappearance).

So my writing is going to be slow for a bit while I play catch up. Hopefully I will get back on track soon... so I'm thanking you all in advance for bearing with me.

Prizes... Prizes... Prizes... Storming Love: Floods

Okay, I'm here today to share some information, which will lead you to prizes.

I'm going to tell you a bit behind the why of my story. I have lived through a couple of floods—one being a true horror.

For me I was lucky that a small rise in the road saved my suburb from disaster. The next town over (not even a minute down the road) copped the brunt of it and was classed as ground zero. Grantham basically got washed away—such death and destruction—both human, wildlife, and crops (we are a farming community known as the salad bowl)

The thing that stuck with me the most over the years is how something like a major flood, or any other natural disaster is how the community rallies afterward to get the place back to as normal as possible. Strangers working side by side—rich, poor, famous, everyday people all with the same goal in mind—clean up and rebuild.

AUTHOR BIOS
N.J. Nielsen:  NJ needs to write like she needs to breathe. It’s an addiction that she never intends to find a cure for. When you don’t find NJ arguing with Vlad, her muse or writing about the wonderful men in her stories, you’ll find her reading work by other authors she greatly admires. NJ lives in the SE of Qld, Australia with her family who all encourage her writing career even if she does occasionally call them by her character’s names. NJ thinks that anyone taking the time to read her stuff is totally awesome.

Jenn Dease: Jenn Dease is a Chef with a reading and writing addiction.  The six bookcases in her bedroom are proof of this.   She was born and raised in Pittsburgh with one of those families that have four generations in a four block radius.   The Redheads, or her sisters, are the best things in her life. When they want to be.

Jambrea Jo Jones:  Jambrea wanted to be the youngest romance author published, but life impeded the dreams. She put her writing aside and went to college briefly, then enlisted in the Air Force. After serving in the military, she returned home to Indiana to start her family. A few years later, she discovered yahoo groups and book reviews. There was no turning back. She was bit by the writing bug.

She enjoys spending time with her son when not writing and loves to receive reader feedback. She’s addicted to the internet so feel free to email her anytime.

AC Katt: She lives in New Mexico with her husband and new cat who, just as she does loves paper and words. She got a late start to her writing career but is now in a writing frenzy. Go figure!

Pelaam: Living in clean, green New Zealand Pelaam is a multi-published author of m/m romance and erotica. She’s loved writing since childhood and to become an author is a cherished dream come true. She grew up reading fairy tales and watching science fiction, horror and fantasy. When not writing she can be found indulging in her other passions of cookery and wine appreciation.

Cherie Noel: Cherie’s been in love with words since before she drew breath, and doesn’t see that ever changing. She write stories, full stop. Sometimes there’s music with them, sometimes they’re poems, and lately, to her great delight, a plethora of M/M fiction and erotic romance. Yum. Smexy man to the second…or third power…now that’s the kinda math Cherie can get behind!!

The hair curls or frizzes as it will, the eyes are green and tend to look in two different directions—no, really—and the rest is subject to change. You know the guy who didn’t know if he was a butterfly dreaming he was a man or a man dreaming he was a butterfly? Yeah, that’s Cherie, but substitute drag queen for butterfly and wacky, wild ex-Army chick for man.

Updates On Why I'm MIA For The Time Being

Things have been hectic in my life of late. due to my sister in law being ill I've been lending a hand at my brother's tattoo shop. at the same time I've been chauffeuring people to and from doctors appointments.  tending to the kids and helping with both school work and uni assignments. Taking care of my mother, keeping up with the housework, cooking for the family,  and clearing the yard of anything that may get blown around during a severe wind storm that is supposed to hit sometime this week (I bloody hope it doesn't). We are still in the midst of our construction company changeover, before we can start the new one in New Zealand. And I'm doing all this while still recovering from Bronchial asthma/flu... No wonder I'm so bloody tired all the time. To make everything fit together like a puzzle my writing world has been put on hold for the moment while I try and catch up with the two projects that are due.

A Lesson In Blurb Writing

If you've ever had the thought - I suck at writing Blurbs... why don't you go and check out what Brenna has to say on the subject. It may be worth your while.
