Matthew Lang - The Way You Are

Blurb:

Leon, a shy, self-effacing business student at the University of Newcastle, starts to visit coma patient Travis ‘Rook’ Rookford, a heterosexual student who gets gay bashed by a group of bogans. At the hospital he meets, falls in love with, and has a lovers tiff with hunky male nurse Warrick, in that order. Then, when Rook finally wakes up, Leon is surprised to find Rook convinced that he and Leon are dating. In the midst of dealing with loving a man in conservative regional Australia, Rook’s upcoming court appearance and his own studies, Leon has to come to terms with what he wants, and gets to find out whether every gay man’s dream of having a hot straight guy fall for you is everything it’s cracked up to be. And he hasn’t even started Christmas shopping yet.

Excerpt:

“Join me for a coffee, Leon?” Warrick asked, poking his head into the room.

Leon looked up from his notes on Giffen goods9 and smiled. “Again? Is it break time already?” he asked with a grin.

Warrick shrugged, and for a moment Leon was distracted by the play of muscle moving against muscle in the nurse’s shoulders.

“Sorry. What?” he said, when it dawned on him that Warrick was waiting for an answer.

“I said it is for those of us on duty,” Warrick said with a grin.

Leon grimaced and held up his text book “I want to, but I should really finish the chapter.”

“You know, medically, it’s good for your brain if you take a break every now and again.”

“I seem to recall you’ve said that before.”

“The truth bears repeating.” Warrick said solemnly. “And I could really use the company.”

“Oh, all right,” Leon said, closing his notebook and putting it away in his backpack. “Cafeteria?”

“Unless you fancy taking a bus back to the old CBD for something better.”

“Personally, I do,” Leon said as he and Warrick exited the room and headed down the corridor, “but that would make you late for work, wouldn’t it?”

Warrick smiled and checked the hallway before leaning in toward Leon. “Actually, I think that would be worth it to have some more time with you,” he said, his voice low.

Leon peeked up at the other man shyly. “Yeah?”

“Why do you always sound so surprised when I say something like that?” Warrick asked.

Leon shrugged. “You always surprise me.”

“That wasn’t an answer.”

“Fine,” Leon said. “Why me?”

Leon had gone a few steps down the stairs before he realized Warrick wasn’t with him. Turning, he paused and looked back up to where the other man stood, his face open and wondering.

“Haven’t you looked at yourself?” Warrick asked, his brow furrowing.

“Daily in the mirror when I shave, yeah. You can almost count my ribs. Every time I go for a checkup, I get asked if I’ve got an eating disorder.”

“Okay, so you’re slender,” Warrick said. “That’s not what I meant.”

“And what exactly did you mean?”

“You….” Warrick glanced up the stairs and hurried to join Leon, and Leon saw a doctor walk down the corridor they had just vacated. “How many other people bothered to come in and say thanks to Travis?” he asked in a lower voice. “I can tell you the answer right now, and that’s none.”

Leon stopped and stared at the larger man carefully, his eyes searching Warrick’s face.

“What?” Warrick asked.

“You really mean that, don’t you?”

“Um… yes?”

“Huh, okay.”

“Okay? I just bared my soul to you and you say ‘okay’?”

“Well, I didn’t think you—I mean, I wasn’t sure if you were… serious.”

“I am, all right?” Warrick said, his voice tinged with exasperation. “So… now with that out of the way, you still up for coffee?”

Leon grinned and started down the stairs again. “Definitely,” he said.

They follow the course of Ethan and Barry's love affair in ten year intervals from the moment they first admit it, at prom in 1978, to a major breakup and reconciliation in 1988, to a family vacation in Hawaii that turns into more in 1998, and election night 2008, a time of deliberation and decision.

Cherie Noel - Worth a Thousand Words

For all those who have read The Counterfeit Clause... Then do I have a surprise for you - today I am pimping Book 2 in the Rescue Twinks series...

Blurb:

Meeting the “one” at the local Christmas Village where he’s playing Santa and you’re on-call as a sexy elf in shimmering Elf-A-Go-Go shorts, getting to happily ever after should be a snap, right?

Right?

Well, not if you’re Adrien Jimenez, possibly the only pretend elf in the world whose picture comes up if you do a Google image search for Murphy’s Law. Mix in a brother with a penchant for creating embarrassing videos and an itchy finger on the YouTube upload button, a brand-spanking new boyfriend with some tricky issues of his own and a bff trying to dress you up in his kid sister’s Ren-Faire cast-offs, anything that can go wrong is almost bound to do so.

Oh, and don’t forget the unbalanced stalker coming for his one true love… Come on back to the land of The Rescue Twinks. We’re calling a level seven Black-Sparkle Glitter Alert, so heist up your hose and come at a run!

I will add the BUY ME LINK when this book becomes available.

Excerpt:

Four long strides had him back across the room and stepping into the bathroom. Between one heartbeat and the next he wrapped a long arm around Adrien’s waist, lifting the smaller man up to a comfortable kissing level. He used his other arm to make sure the bathroom’s high countertop was clear of anything potentially harmful—he swept it all into the back corner of the counter.  At the sudden motion, Adrien opened his mouth, a startled yelping noise issuing forth until Devon pressed their mouths together. The clink and clatter of various bottles and—good Christ, who except his madre and his lover had this much shit on their bathroom counters—other bits of fiddly stuff had Adrien squirming in his arms. Devon plopped Adrien’s delectable ass on the newly cleared counter space and slid both hands up to frame his face. He held the kiss through the entire transition, only pulling back when Adrien went boneless and pliant, opening his mouth even wider and moaning into Devon’s mouth.

Devon rested his forehead against Adrien’s. “Get in the shower, babe. I have to go meet one of my old soldiers later, and if I get in there with you I may not leave this room for several days. Well, maybe I’d make it as far as the bedroom. But even that is iffy. I’m going to go make us some lunch, and then we’ll talk about when your classes are—I know you had the Anthropology exam already, but I don’t have the rest of your schedule.”

Adrien leaned up, eyes closed as he nipped and licked at Devon’s jaw, a high, sweetly needy whine pouring out of him. Devon put his hands on Adrien’s waist to keep him steady and stepped back out of the range of Adrien’s mouth. “I—oh, Adrien, don’t make that noise. Mira, loco, that will get you fucked until you can’t walk, and make me miss my appointment.”

In the distance, a phone rang. Adrien opened his eyes. The amber color made a thin ring around huge pupils. His bottom lip poked out. “Maybe I don’t need to walk anywhere.”

Poppy Dennison - Southern Fried Christmas

Blurb:

Master Vampire William loathes the holidays. He spends the season pining for the one man he can never have--television chef Ricky Joe Dash. Ricky Joe enjoys his cooking show Simply Southern, but works too much to truly enjoy the rest of his life. When he's kidnapped and left in a room with a vampire, will it be the season for holiday bliss-- or a recipe for disaster?

My bio:

A sassy southern lady, Poppy Dennison developed an obsession with things that go bump in the night in her early years after a barn door flew off its hinges and nearly squashed her. Convinced it was a ghost trying to get her attention, she started looking for other strange and mysterious happenings around her. Not satisfied with what she found, Poppy has traveled to Greece, Malaysia and England to find inspiration for the burly bears and silver foxes that melt her butter. Her love of paranormal continues to flourish nearly thirty years later, and she writes steamy love stories about the very things that used to keep her up all night. If her childhood ghost is lucky, maybe one day she’ll give him his own happily ever after.

Cameron Lawton - Cancel Christmas

Blurb:

Cancel Christmas

The Military Police boys are back and this time it's murder.

A fast-paced murder mystery featuring the two Military Police investigators from "Yours To Command". Plans for the holidays are scrapped when a body is found on an Army base in Germany. Still firmly in the closet at work, they stay in a hotel and indulge in some midnight room-hopping but will Rory be able to cope with his assistant's newly-discovered dominant streak? Who killed the translator and why in such a grisly way? Is there a connection to a recent suicide bomb attack in Afghanistan? Killing doesn't stop just because it's Christmas, especially in the British Army.

Excerpt:

“How about a long hot shower together, Rory?”

The older man needed no encouraging and in no time they were in the bathroom, pushing each other into the shower cubicle, giggling and shoving like schoolboys. Rory gazed at Jack’s tall, slim body; his arms well-muscled from competitive swimming; his close-cropped blond hair, so soft and downy under Rory’s fingers when they made love, he shivered with anticipation. Tonight, for once, Jack would be able to stay the night; they would wake up in each other’s arms. He compared his own, stockier frame, covered in dark hair with Jack’s smooth pale skin. They were like chalk and cheese but they were in love.

“Here, let me wash your back,” Jack offered and Rory obediently turned, luxuriating in the hot water cascading over his body and his sergeant’s hands, slippery with shower-gel, gliding over his skin.

They had both been trained in “restrain and detain” techniques but Rory wasn’t expecting it so when Jack expertly flicked Rory’s hands up behind his back, pushing him forward, there was no resistance. The captain found himself with his face up against the hard tiles, unable to move and with Jack whispering in his ear, bending forward, his erection already nudging Rory’s buttocks.

“It’s my turn this time…sir. You’re going to take and I’m going to give and if you struggle, I’ll break your fucking arms, you know I can. I’m going to give you something to remember me by when I’m on leave.”

Rory had never known this side of his lover before. Jack had taken control big time and Rory  didn't like it at all,    but there wasn’t much he could do about it because the sergeant was right—he could break his arms as easily as blinking in this position, although Rory didn’t think he would.

It was a game, just a bit of rough stuff … wasn’t it?

Jack’s soapy fingers were exploring and penetrating, while the other hand kept Rory immobilized in a grip of steel. The younger man was inexperienced but eager and the situation was exciting him intensely; Rory could tell by the increasing ferocity of his fingering.

“Take it easy, laddie, you’ll split me at this rate!”

“Oh you don’t know the half yet, sir. Who’s a lucky man then? Nice boyfriend with a big dick to screw you senseless? Eh? Don’t worry, I’ll be good to you afterwards but it’s my turn now.”

He was panting as he removed his finger and then thrust hard into Rory, who bit down hard on his lip because Jack was hurting him and he was sure that shouting out would only excite him even more. The younger man was in an ecstasy of domination and came very quickly with a howl of pure triumph, releasing Rory’s wrists as he did so.

Rory turned around slowly, rubbing his aching arms and slapped Jack across the cheek, not too hard but enough to show that he was mightily displeased.
“On your knees, laddie,” he hissed.

Jack slumped to the floor of the shower-cubicle and gazed up at his captain. Despite the pain, Rory was aroused so he guided his cock to Jack’s mouth. Obediently, the blond man opened up but just as his lover was sliding in, an alarm sounded from the living room.
“God-damn and sodding blast it!” Rory recognized the sound. It was his “squawk”, a special cell phone to be used only in emergencies. This meant trouble. He blundered out of the shower and answered the call.

Excerpt:

I exited the shelter and raised the collar on my coat again. There was no sign the snow planned on stopping its assault on the city. I rounded the corner to the alley. I really should’ve been heading to the highway overpass north of the shelter. Someone usually had a fire going. I’d been sleeping there more than anywhere else in the past several weeks, but I couldn’t force myself to walk that far, not with the full stomach and how hard the snow was barreling down. I’d just have to find a doorway to hunch in for a few hours until the library opened. One of those shops farther down on Madison usually worked. The cops didn’t tour that area much and the shops were too small to bother with much security.

I stopped halfway down the alley where the buildings on each side blocked much of the falling snow and wind.

Someone moved in the shadows beside a dumpster. A man stepped into the dim glow from the streetlights just as my eyes adjusted to the darkness behind him where a door was open. A kid not much more than sixteen lay on a couch inside the apartment. His head was propped on the arm of the couch, his eyes rolled back. Another, even younger kid was on the other end, sitting up, a needle in his hand.

For once, I didn’t turn away and take off. I leaned against the brick wall and watched that young man’s face soften as the pain and misery faded away.

The guy who’d walked out of the open door had stopped. “You looking for something?”

I just kept on staring at the kid on the couch.

 This wasn’t me.

I was just so cold and tired. The high of the warm food filling my belly hadn’t lasted long. I wanted to forget that I was alone for another Christmas, forget what I’d been doing to survive, and most importantly, forget the memories that stupid string of Christmas lights had brought out.

 Just for a little while.

“Come on. You deserve some relief.” He tilted his head to the room behind him where the others lay on that couch completely unaware of the snow blowing in through the open door. “I’ll show you how,” he added.

“Don’t.” Biker Boots was walking toward us from the end of the alley. He was staring me down as he’d done when I’d first seen him in the shelter. He was taller and broader than he’d looked earlier. He had a strong, solid appearance despite his lean frame. Although, that could’ve had something to do with the determination in his stride as he advanced. “Don’t do it,” he said, his gaze still locked on mine.

“Fuck off,” the other guy said. He’d taken a step away but wasn’t backing off completely.

Biker Boots gestured toward the street. “Let’s get out of here.”

I didn’t think. I just nodded and followed him down the alley.

When I’d lost my apartment and had spent the first night wandering the city streets, I’d made myself a few promises. The first...no matter how bad it got, I’d never give in and get fucked up.

Now, four months in and I’d almost done it.

We neared the end of the alley, and my new friend—if I dared call him that—didn’t even stop, just kept on moving along the sidewalk until another guy stepped into my path.

 “Hey, cutie.”

Biker Boots came to my side. “Don’t.” Apparently, his favorite word. He grabbed my arm and dragged me with him, trudging forward faster than before. When we reached the next block, he finally let go.

I stopped to catch my breath. “What’d you do that for? I might’ve gotten enough for a room. It’s practically a fucking blizzard out here or haven’t you noticed?”

One side of his mouth lifted in an amused smirk. “You would’ve been spending the night someplace warm, that’s for sure. He’s a cop. And not one that wants a free blow and will let you go.”

I jerked around to look back the way we’d come. I’d almost gotten my ass thrown in jail for the first time.

 Merry Fucking Christmas.

Biker Boots tilted his head in the opposite direction. “Come on. I know a place.” He continued walking at a quick pace, his hands shoved into his pockets, and I followed.
