Writing Process Blog Tour

Hi Everyone... I'm a part of this blog tour because Anna Lee who I consider to be a good friend, and very talented writer in her own right asked me to participate... So here I am... I've added her link so you can go and check her out.

Okay I have four questions to answer for all of you about my writing process ~ bear with me as I have a tendency to ramble on a bit.

1) What am I working on now?

I know what I'm supposed to be working on, but for some reason my mind comes back to the one paranormal series, and I can do nothing but give into the whims of the voices inside my head....

So seriously: I'm currently working through a lot of thoughts and scene ideas for The Lines Of Marsden 3: You Make Me Die In Pieces. once I work through them it's all down to putting them in chronological order and writing the link scenes which will join them all together into the whole novel.

I'm also working on the freebie. for the Goodreads MMRomance Don't Read In The Closet 2014: Love's Landscape... My story is called: I Couldn't Care Less What You Think... I'm in the process of typing up all my notes for that one... then I need to hunt down someone willing to be my beta reader.

2) How does my work vary from others in this genre?

To be honest I'm not sure. I'm not exactly one to follow the rules... If I don't like what's expected by everyone, then I just change it to suite myself. I try to always use words that I would say. I hate researching, hence the reason I love paranormal so much ~ because then I can write it however I want. Though, I'm trying to write more aggressive if that makes sense. I've been told by a few people that I write sickly sweet - I never sent out to do that. Then I realised others have absolutely loved my work and I figure as long as I please at least on person than my job is done... I always encourage people if they read on of my books and think I have left something unanswered in a storyline the get in touch with me - leave me a comment here on the blog or on PM me on face book and I will try to work the answers into future story lines.

Getting back to the question at hand: I think the difference between me and others is the way a reader perceives a story-sees it unfolding in their heads... I personally think I write just like everyone else the journey is different for ever reader.

3) Why do I write what I write?

I write in the MM genre because I like reading works by other authors in this same genre. Though why paranormal? I guess the answer to that has been I have always been fascinated with the paranormal, supernatural, and fantasy elements in life, and I must admit I dabble in them all on occasion. I even write straight out contemporary. I think if I wrote the same thing day in and day out I'd go bloody bonkers. Another reason I always have more than one story on the desktop at the same time. So I can choose each morning what best suites my mood for each day.

4) How does your writing process work?

I'm what you would call a panster in the writing world - as in I fly by the seat of my pants - so to speak. Normally I'm not a plotter I usually just sit at the computer each day with a story open and write whatever the hell falls out of my head. I know up above I said I have a lot of notes on stories and I thought I should clarify that statement for everyone. For the last three months I have been ill with migraines, and Ross River fever... so I haven't been able to sit at my computer for long periods and found it way easier just to long hand everything from the comfort of my bed while I recovered. As also mentioned above I don't know what I'm going to work on each day until I get up and turn on my computer.

I'm also one of those people that hates re reading my own work so I try when working on a story to re read the last five pages of whatever I'm working on just to get back into the flow of the story. once the story is finished - no matter how long it is - I go back and make whatever changes needed before sending it to my beta reader. I also suck at punctuation so my wonderful friend Jim Adkinson (Yoda) goes through, and tries to fix all the punctuation for me.

I've been trying to keep track of all my character profiles as well so that in future books I can remember exactly what the hell they looked like... It's a slow and long process because I have so many to catch up on. I should have thought to do this right from the beginning.

I try to work on my writing from 6 a.m.-2 p.m. everyday without fail. I believe to be consistent you need a routine to follow. some days I write a lot other days I write nothing at all because my life gets in the road due to family and other appointments. I always carry a notepad and pen in case I need to jot an idea down while away from the computer... mainly so I don't forget whatever the hell it was I was thinking about... I have a memory like a sieve.

Who's following me:

I have asked three incredible authors to follow me in this tour starting with the wonderful Z Allora who writes some of the hottest rockers & zombie stories I have ever read. Mind you at the time I forgot she didn't have a blog so I will be hosting her on mine (see I told you my brain wasn't back to normal yet).

Secondly I've asked Jess Buffett who is just an amazing person  jess also writes in the paranormal - mind you she writes a little bit of everything. I got to hang out with her for awhile in Sydney last year. I love her books and I think you will too.

Last but not least is the very talented Vona Logan who is fast becoming a good friend of mine. she write contemporary with a little supernatural thrown in...worth checking out.

Hop Against Homophobia & Transphobia

Well as you can see for the next ten days my blog is dedicated to this wonderful hop before I get too carried away I will ad the link to the Home page so you can go and find out who else is participating on this great Hop. I am only doing the one post for the whole ten days so that it doesn't get too confusing and yo don't have to look through past posts etc.

Well today is the International Day Against Homophobia & Transgender - follow their link below to find out more:

MY PRIZES & HOW TO GET THEM: I have on offer a gift certificate to Amazon for the amount of $10 and the choice of a book from my backlist. (Actually this prize is doubled as I have one for a person who just stops by and leaves a comment and if you join my followers list or tell me you're a follower then you go into the second draw as well).

SO WHAT'S IMPORTANT: 1) I need you to leave a comment. 2) I need you to tell me if you belong to my followers list. 3) Most importantly I need you to leave me your contact details so I know how to get in contact with you should you be the winner.

So now I get to ramble and talk about this topic in my own way... bear with me as I tend to just say whatever comes to mind.

To be honest I think phobia's of this kind are nothing more than another form of bullying. Don't get me wrong some people may have a legitimate phobia, but most are nothing but bullies. How do I feel about this, being a straight married woman I probably see it way different then someone who has to live with this bigotry aimed at them day in and day out. My greatest wish is that one day our children and their descendants will do away with phobia of this kind. I know I won't see it in my life time yet I have the greatest of faith our descendants will one day wake up and realise how wrong it is to hang onto old hatreds of this kind.

There is no need for this kind of behaviour in this day & age.

As a mother I have done what I can by teaching my own child that love is love no matter what form it comes in. Your heart can't help who it chooses to give itself to. I've noticed that even though my child is now 23 years old she is willing to step in and shut people down if they are picking on same sex couples - it's times like that I realise she is the greatest achievement in my life and I couldn't be more prouder of her.

I have great admiration for same sex couple and for transgender people because they have the courage to stand up and be who they are - and I have a message for you all: When you start to think the whole world is against you know there is one person standing in her part of Australia cheering you all on.

If people took the time to actually learn about the situation they are condemning with such hatred they would more than likely walk away with the same respect I have. I believe it is the lack of understanding which keep people seeing same sex love and transgender with such inexcusable fear and hate. My message to you who are unwilling to give up the hate: WAKE THE FUCK UP! Come on people, it's time to get real and see there is a whole lot of different kinds of normal than the narrow minded way you are looking at things.

Okay that is my ramble for the day and I apologise if I've said anything which offends anyone in any way. If you want a chance to claim a prize you know what to do.

I will announce both winners on: May 30th 2013

Now, divorced, outed and publicly humiliated, Dalton is trying to build a business and keep a low profile. He doesn’t believe he deserves a second chance with Steve after the way he hurt him. However, Dalton didn’t reckon with his former lover’s interfering friends, the depth of Steve’s love nor the forgiveness the spirit of Christmas can offer. Can one lonely, broken cowboy forgive himself and accept the love that has always belonged to him? And will the Forbes tradition of Christmas Eve Happily Ever Afters give Steve and Dalton the future they never thought they’d have?

Howloween Blog Hop

Well today is the beginning of the Howloween Blog Hop. and I am supposed to write something Halloween inspired. The sad thing is in my part of Australia we don't really celebrate Halloween. So I am just gonna ramble for a bit.

where you will find other great participants to go trick or treating with.
270+ Authors

What does Halloween mean for me, I get to indulge in my love of bats. Okay so maybe I am a little off my rocker because I joined a blog hop for something I never participate in... Though I was just in America. Albuquerque, New Mexico to be exact for GRL and while there I went to a store with Brandi and Erika and I was just amazed by all the Halloween decorations everywhere... the spiders I could live without but I did really enjoy the bats.

Why is it when this time of year rolls around I want to write a shit-load of paranormal stories... I want to immerse myself in the spirit of the day/night etc. This is the time of year that the paranormal and the supernatural all come out to play and have a good time among the land of the living human beings. I always wonder just how thin the veil between the undead and the living truly is at this time of year... mind you I am a 'big ol' fraidy cat' about the scary side of life.

My Give-away
I suppose I should talk about my prize for this blog hop... The truth is I can't remember what I said I would give away (Bad NJ). So instead I will now say I will give away a free ebook from my backlist and a $15 gift certificate to Bookstrand or Amazon... So to be in the chance to win this prize please leave a comment with your contact information... and for a chance to be in the draw twice please feel free to join my blog as a follower or remind me that you are already a follower. I will then choose my winner at the end of the hop.

Good luck to all who participate.

Hop Against Homophobia

HAH Blog Check out some other awesome participants.

My prize for stopping by is a $25 Gift Certificate for books.

Leave a comment (those in my Follower list will be entered again) if they also leave a comment along with you email address - Just let me know you are in both so that I don't miss adding your name again. or join my followers to be added the second time.

Yes homophobia is a big deal

To me homophobia, bullying, and no equality all mean the same thing it all starts with HOMOPHOBIA! And I have to ask myself why? Why can't people just mind their own business? Why do they need to discriminate against people just because they deem them to be different than what they consider normal? I am a big believer in the whole - "Cut us and we all bleed red." - Why does two people of the same sex loving each other cause people as a whole to think it okay to act like complete and utter idiots?

I just don't get it!!!

I don't understand how anyone can judge someone by who they choose to love. I hear a lot - "But the bible says..." Has it crossed anyone's mind that maybe the bible is wrong? I am a catholic, and even I see no shame in loving someone of the same sex. I personally believe as long as you are loving someone than everything will be okay in the world.

I guess you are wondering if I myself am gay?

No, I'm not, and I can't sit here and tell you how it feels to be at the brunt of a homophobic attack - because it would be guessing on my part. And no, I was never picked on or bullied growing up. But I have had friends who have been. I was there to pick them up and dust them off and help them find their centre again. So this is why I feel I should be allowed to comment on this subject.

Yesterday I was sent this YouTube Video and I know it is on equal rights for same sex couples, but in my eyes if one of the families hadn't been homophobic than none of this would have happened. WARNING! Tissues will be needed.

The words IT GETS BETTER don't mean anything unless we all band together and take that first step in setting things right. We need to all have our say - we need to be their for those who do have to suffer at the hands of homophobia. Join with me in trying to make the world a better place and say  -"you know what? I think today I will believe for just one moment that it really does get better"

If you are someone who is subject of homophobia - PLEASE - reach out to someone and let them know what is happening. There are People out willing to help as long as you reach out to them.

Hoppy Easter Blog Hop

It's that time of the year again...

Yes, it is time for the Hoppy Easter Blog Hop If you follow this link to the event page you will find many more awesome people who are participating in this awesome HOP.

Again I will be giving two prizes for $25 Gift Certificates to buy books - I will even get them to a venue of your choice, (if I can work out how to do it- LOL.) So to be eligible to enter either or both comps to win you need to leave a comment with contact information and/or join my list of followers (though you will still need to comment and leave contact information.) I decide on a winner with the age old method of pulling the lucky two peoples names out of a hat, or Tupperware bowl whatever is handiest.

So here is my Easter Ramble - Easter means something different to everyone. For some it is the religious aspects they focus on. For others it is all the sugary and chocolate goodness of the eggs etc. For other's it is an OMG!!! How much is this gonna cost me? Especially if they have more than one person to buy for. For me it is to decide what do I buy my daughter for doesn't eat Easter Eggs? This year she is hinting at new jeans... and I know once we buy said jeans she will need a shirt or something else to go with it... It is a never ending cycle of stuff that is running through my brain during these holidays.

On that note I will away and good luck everyone - PS - Don't forget to check out the other awesome Hoppers... I will post my winners on Tuesday the 10th of April (Australian Time) which will probably be Monday the 9th everywhere else in the world - LOL

Happy Hopping Everyone.

Now that I have shared with you the important stuff I will start Rambling about me.....

Toowoomba  Boys 2
This is my Latest and is going to fit in well with the whole Valentine theme. This Novella became available yesterday and I have been snoopy dancing a lots since then. Hunting for Clay is the second instalment in my Toowoomba Boys series. I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

BLURB

Two years have passed since Hunter and Clay met on that fateful morning in Tello’s Diner. Getting passed the fact that Clay was stalking Marlowe was the easy part. Clay Montgomery’s life changed for the better the day he found the man who was meant to be the other half of him. Hunter understood him well, and knew how to give him exactly what he needs to be happy. Hunter Weldon knows what he wants, and just how to get it. For two years he has loved the man in his rams and now it is time to up the ante.

EXCERPT

Chapter One

Hunter poked his head around the doorframe, making sure Clay and Marlowe were nowhere in sight as he headed to the bedroom Marlowe shared with Angelo. H had all been e needed to talk to Angelo without his cousin or Clay finding out. In the two years they had all been sharing a house he had learnt that his cousin could not keep a secret if his life depended on it; especially since he and Clay had become best buddies – the whole Clay stalking Marlowe thing was now put behind them. So much had happened in the last two years since Marlowe had finally won the heart of his straight boy. Hunter often cringed when he remembered how Marlowe and Angelo’s relationship had almost been destroyed before it even had a chance to begin. It took Clay to help them sort it out. Angelo possessions had slowly been transferred to their house, until in the end Angelo was living with them.

Knocking Quietly on the door, he waited until Angelo told him to enter. Marlowe and Clay were gossiping in the kitchen. Hunter shook his head. Where else would they be? The kitchen seemed to be their favourite place when they were both home and not working. Marlowe was probably still teaching Clay all about his job because he was now getting more than he could handle and was trying to woo Clay into joining him. Uncle Skye had already given the go-ahead to hire him

“Come in,” Angelo’s voice sounded muffled.

Slipping into the room he gestured to the bedspread being used. “Marlowe?”

Angelo grimaced. “Actually it was Dimmy; he thought it was hilarious. He got his friend to send it to us.” The cover was white and covered in multi-coloured hearts of various sizes. “Marlowe loves it.”

  “Lucky you,” Hunter grinned.

Angelo rolled his eyes. “I can ask Dimmy to get you one.”

  “You wouldn’t dare.”

Angelo raised one eyebrow in the Oh, wouldn’t I? look.

“Okay, What are you really doing in my room? I know you didn’t come in to take the piss out of me because of our bedspread.”

Hunter ran a hand through his hair. “Yeah, I kinda need your help. I am trying to organise Clay’s present for Valentine’s Day.”

“Um, you do realise Valentine’s is still a month away, right?”

“Yes, dumbarse,” Hunter growled. “But I want to make it special since he is feeling kind of down. Seeing as Valentine’s is also his birthday, I wanted to make up for his Family telling him he still wasn’t welcome at home. Well he is, but not with me.”

  “You’re feeling guilty, aren’t you?”

Hunter shrugged. “Maybe. His family was fine with him being gay until he moved in with me. I think they were hoping it was some kind of phase.”

“It’s not your fault. At least his parents aren’t as crazy as mine. I can see my brother running away soon. Dimmy is nearly eighteen now and he won’t put up with their crap any longer.”

“Will we need to clean out the spare room?” Hunter asked.

He watched as Angelo took some time to think about it. “I don’t know, but maybe we should do it just to be on the safe side.”

“I suppose it would be good to set it up for a spare room regardless. You never know who might turn up.”

Hunter didn’t say anything else, and as he walked out of Angelo’s bedroom he bumped into Clay walking through the lounge room with the dog lead in his hand. “Are you going somewhere?”

“Mar and I are taking the dogs for a walk,” he said as he kissed Hunter’s cheek and kept walking out to the kitchen. “We will be back in an hour or so.”

“Okay. Angelo and I are going to clean out the spare room.”

Clay froze in his tracks. “Why?”

“He thinks Dimmy may want to come and stay for awhile. So I suggested we clean out the spare room.”

Clay nodded. “Do you need me and Mar to stay and help?”

“No babe, you take Ziggy and Droogie for their walk. Angelo and I can bring it all into the lounge and when you guys get back we can sort through it and figure out what we want to keep or get rid of.”

“Okay, I’ll let Mar know.” Clay blew him another kiss before leaving.

“He’s in a happier mood,” Angelo commented as he joined Hunter in the lounge room.

“Dog walking. Those two are obsessed with walking those dogs.” Hunter shook his head as he headed up the hall to the small spare room. It was a job he was dreading as it was filled with the excess stuff from all of them. Groaning he picked up the first box and carried it back out to the lounge room.

“I can’t believe you let Clay sucker you into getting another dog,” Angelo teased.

Hunter snorted. “You started it. I just got sick of listening to them argue who was ging to hold the damn lead.” He winked at Angelo. “And besides, Clay has ways of being very convincing when he wants something.”

Angelo burst out laughing. “That is TMI, my friend.”

“You’re only jealous.” Hunter grinned as they got to work.

DON'T FORGET - Leave me a comment and be in the chance to win a an $25 Amazon Gift Certificate or if you prefer a $25 Bookstrand Gift Certificate. (as they are the only two I know how to do). Feel free to join the followers of my blog for another chance to win.
