Short & Sweet

Okay, today I am only on here for a short time, as I am trying to get my Taxes sorted... Man I hate this time of year...

Other news: My daughter Emily has decided that while I am away she is going to do my blog for me, just in case I can't... (July 21- August 7). So please, if you get inundated with pictures of Matt Tuck, (lead singer of Bullet for my Valentine), blame her, and not me.  I am going to have a lot of stuff already prepared for her, but that doesn't mean she will stick to my game plan... Did I mention that she is stubborn??? If I ever get published; my character Gypsy Marsden, in The Lines of Marsden, is based on her... that is all I'm saying.

So for the next 14 days I will be doing up extra instalments of When The Walls Come Tumbling Down. I know that is something that she will stick to and my Weekly Reads.  But the rest is totally up in there air... she is kinda emo so you could end up with anything... I love her to death, but sheesh sometimes... LMAO.

Weekly Read

A Thread of Deepest Black: By Finn Marlowe

I fell in love with Killian Frost from the very first page of this wonderful book; mind you, that didn’t stop me from wanting to slap the man silly throughout the whole entire book.  He was an arsehole, but I just loved him to bits.  Same could be said for Colton Decarie. They were both such strong characters that it was amazing that the house was still standing at the end of it all.

This story actually blew me away.  If I am honest; I bought this book for the cover, and put it on the back burner for so long. Then when I finally started reading it I couldn’t put it down. It is one of my favourite re-reads.

I loved everything about this story; it was one of the most different stories that I have ever read. It kept you guessing throughout the whole thing. Each new character sucked you in just that little bit more.  I strongly urge you to put this book on your reading list if you haven’t done so already.  I have it on good authority that there is a second book coming out.  I personally will be first in line to buy it.

This story leads us on a wild adventure through worlds we could only guess about.  I was totally spellbound by the places that the journey took us, and by the end I was: ‘I want more damn it!!!’  I know that everyone that gives this book a chance will be just as entranced as I was.

I loved the fact that the characters weren’t all perfect; they were flawed just like the rest of us.  It made them seem just that much more real to me. Finn Marlowe has done an excellent job in bring her people to life.

I have read many Vampire/Shifter books and once again I can honestly say that this was different.  It was like a breath of fresh air.  That alone was what kept me rivitted to this story.

So I say thank-you Finn for a great story.

This awesome book was published by Samhain Publishing: www.samhainpublishing.com

The awesome cover was done by: Kanaxa.

I usually finish off with my favourite lines but this time I am going to finish off with something from Finn’s own site: www.finnmarlowe.com

Monday Madness!!!

Well, I thought I would fill you a bit on what is happening in my life... I am still waiting to hear back from the Publishing firm that I sent Rules are Meant to be Broken to... but I still have at least have another 4 days before the 30 days are up, but I was warned that the usual time is between 30 & 40 days... so in that case I have a fortnight before I hear back... so everyone keep your fingers crossed for me.

I am off to America on July 21st. for two 2&1/2 weeks, so I thought I would do double ups of my blog story between now and then so that you don't miss out while I am away. because I honestly do not know if I will get time to blog while I am over there. But if I can, then you will be lucky and just get extras.

Other than that I have been just relaxing and getting myself ready to dive into a project.  Which one, I am not so sure about, so if you have any suggestions then I would tell me now.

New Series

Okay, well I have been trying to muddle through this in my head, so I thought, if I tell you guys about it then it might make a bit more sense.  The series is called: Paying It Forward... I am thinking of it being in a series of Novellas like Lynn Hagen's; Brac Pack.

The basis behind paying it forward, is that two drunk, and bored, Leprechauns, decide for shits and giggles to pass on some of their powers; just to see what happens.  I thought that with the ending of each book the main characters could pass their gifted powers (Paying in forward), to the main characters of the next book. The Two Leprechauns I have named Shanahan Doherty,  and Fergal Dalbhach.  I will keep these two guys as background and sometimes interfering secondary characters in each story.

Book 1 is: Harlin's Heart; and is about Duke Harlin, who is a man that likes structure in his life. Things need to be done in a set way.  He is comfortable if he has everything in his life planned well in advance..  & Joel Roxby, (Roxy), who is his exact opposite in every way.  Roxy is chaos on legs, and is the most flamboyant person that Duke has ever laid eyes on.

With the help of  interfering friends, on both their sides, (& Leprechauns),  who think that they will be perfect for each other as Duke will calm Roxy down, and Roxy will shake up Duke's world just a little.

This is as far as I have gotten with planning, I am hoping that it is something that will interest people.  Thanks for letting me tell you all about it.

Hot July Days

As you all know I was in the Hot July Days for MM Romance over on Goodreads... well I have to check out when my story is actually up for reading and I will tell you all.  Just a reminder of what my Pictures were and the story basis I was given...

Please tell me the story of this handsome Norseman

He went out viking and came back to this scene in his village.

Who is the sexy stranger and what is happening?

I thought I would give you a small but sneaky peek to make sure you all go and have a look-see. when mine and other stories are able to be read.

Shadows on the Heart

Chapter One:

“ I'm free... I’m free...”  Andreas jumped around, laughter bubbling out of him as he pumped his fist into the air.  “ I'm free... I’m fr... I am so fucked!”  His excitement drained out of him as he sank to the ground in realisation that he wasn't where he was supposed to be.  “Where the hell am I?”  This in no way even looked like the City of Brisbane... funny, if he didn't know any better he would think that he had been transported through time as well as space.  Fear followed closely by anger surged through him as he stood up.

The Witch!  He knew he shouldn’t have trusted that damn witch.

Never trust a witch... hadn’t his mother always told him that?  One little spell, was all he had to do...  Zap him to Brisbane, so he could get the hell away from Christos and his unwanted attentions.  Tucker swore... it was only one tiny incantation, and a few smelly symbols painted on his body...  What could possibly go wrong, he said?  What the fuck was he supposed to do now?

Run...  Andreas heard the men coming long before he saw them.  His instincts were telling him that even though he didn’t know where he was, he didn’t want to be caught by these... these... whatever the hell they were.  Confusion overwhelmed him as he as he ran towards the small copse of trees ahead of him.

He wasn’t going to make it!

Andreas ducked to the side as his senses screamed at him that he was in danger.  That witch was so dead when he got his fucking hands on her.  He was supposed to be in Brisbane, not wherever the hell this was.  Fuck!  Andreas dodged to the side again.  He felt, rather than saw, something go flying passed his head, missing him by mere inches.  Holy fuck!  Andreas skidded to a halt as a long spear embedded itself into the ground just ahead of him.  What the hell was going on?  Laughter bubbled out of him as he found himself surrounded by seven ferocious looking men.  ‘Oh my god...’ he thought, as he wiped the tears of mirth out of his eyes.  He realised just how stupid he had been.  This was a movie set... somehow the witch had got it wrong and set him down in the middle of a fricken movie set.  Okay, so maybe he would let him live after all.

Andreas held up his hands.  “Sorry guys, I didn’t mean to ruin your shot.”  His smile faded as they each took a menacing step towards him, one guy holding a length of rope in his hands as he slowly advanced, the rest had axes, swords and other wicked looking weapons... Oh this was so not good.  “Look... guys, I said I was sorry,” Andreas backed away until he came up against a hard chest, and two large hands wrapped around his arms gripping him like steel.  “This is still 2011, isn’t it?”

This couldn’t be happening.

Another Snippet

This is a little snippet from a book I have called Jettermane, it is a Vampire/Alien book. the main character is Jett ( Jettermane) who somehow ended up on earth as a baby, and and on his 21st birthday he is being taken home to the world he belongs to.  The Vampire World: Ximenez. Once there, Jett can grow and flourish as he never could before, even as he must learn exactly who he is and what is expected of him.  His destiny is to take his place as the Xerx (Kings spouse) of his people.  He must learn to stand beside Blayze his king and husband, and lend his strength to help rule over the people.  While trying to find out who is killing the citizens of Thorndyke off one by one.

In the beginning

Jett lay in bed and stared at the ceiling, he hated being here.  There were just too many crazy people.  He was pissed that his parents thought of him as a complication in their perfect lives.  Mention once that you dreamed of being a vampire, and the next thing you know you wake up in a strange room; strapped to a bed with someone shoving little pink pills down your throat.  His mother had been to see him once, though, only to stare at him through the glass petition.  The palm of her hand pressed to the glass as tears streamed down her face.  He watched as she mouthed ‘I’m sorry’ before turning away.

That had been almost five years ago, and he was still here in this same room.  The only difference was that now he wasn’t strapped to the bed.  The strange thing was, that he still dreamed of being a vampire; except now his dreams were much more vivid, and involved other people.  Who they were; he did not know, but they felt familiar to him.  He knew they were also vampires.  He could tell by the colour of their skin, so pale, and by the colour of their eyes or lack thereof.  Their eyes were pale grey almost like there was no colour at all; when they neared him he felt the coolness of them pass.

They spoke to him as if he was one of them.  Sometimes he wished he was, then, maybe some of this would have made sense.  Because, this place just sucked all the fun out of living.  He almost wished that his dreams were real.  It would be nice to think he had someone on the outside that cared about him.  Someone he could go to when they finally let him out, if they ever let him out.

Chapter One

“Jett, wake up!”  I was vaguely aware that I was dreaming, yet tonight it was more vivid then I had ever dreamt before.  “Come on man, wake up.  We have to get the hell out of here.  They’re coming.”  Who was coming?  “Three minutes damn!  What am I going to do?  Sorry I have no alternative I have to do this, we gotta go.”

I felt a small sharp jab in the base of my skull and my whole body seemed to twist itself inside out. What the hell was happening?  My eyes flew open only to be blinded by the brightest light that I have ever seen.  My heart was pounding so hard that it felt like it was trying to jump right out of my chest.  I tried to focus on the noise around me; it was like nothing I had ever heard before.  My scream got lost in the sound that tore through my head.

‘Oh crap, I was dead.’

Death is a funny thing.  Firstly, I never thought it would be this painful.  It kinda feels like a massive hangover; or that you have survived being smashed in the head repeatedly with a sledge hammer.  Secondly, I was extremely thirsty… my throat felt so dry, and it tickled with an itch I couldn’t scratch.

Weekly Read

This week I have chosen as my book of the week: The Cat's Meow- Assassin's Pride: Book 1...  By Stormy Glenn.  I fell in love with the main characters Gage Tynan & Noah Anderson

This is a story that pulled me in from the very first page where innocence meets ruthlessness, and didn’t back down.  It had me reaching for the tissues a number of times.

Noah Anderson’s OCD style of order in his life drew me towards him in an instant.  His compassion and understanding of how things were made my heart tug just that little bit more in his direction.

Gage Tynan is a bad arse, and knows he is a bad arse...  He sees what has to be done, and knows exactly what to do to achieve it... until now.  Everything he has ever known about how to take out a target is thrown out the window when Noah Anderson steps into his life.

Ms Glenn has written this story beautifully, this is a story that I am sure will be on many people’s re read lists

Noah’s antics as he faces the knowledge that he is about to cease to exist at the hands of the strange but attractive Gage, tell the true story of how kind he really is.  He is ok with the dying, as long as Gage keeps his promise to take care of his cat Precious.

I found it intriguing watching Gage’s life slowly turn around as he realised that he is not the scariest thing out there.  I loved how Noah slowly dragged Gage into the place where Gage was now the protector and not the killer.

Ms Glenn showed that by standing together Noah and Gage were stronger than if they faced their problems alone...  By putting aside their initial conflict they banded together to help each other through their own demons.

Gages knowledge that he was meant for better things was an amazing storyline to follow, as his understanding of what was happening came to life he manned up and took control... proving not only to himself, but us as readers, that when fighting for what’s right you have to dig a little deeper... even when what you are fighting for turns out to be a little different and a lot more complicated then what he first thought.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I know that you will too, I can’t wait for the next instalment in this series. And have no problem’s telling you if you haven’t already read this then you are missing out.

The beautiful cover was done by: Reese Dante

I will end with my favourite lines of this story.

“Okay, what should I do now?”  Noah asked, his voice sounding low and shaky. “How is this done?  Are you gonna shoot me or stab me or something else?  What would be easiest for you?”
