Embry Carlysle Q & A.

Okay I am going to introduce you to my very good friend and my sometimes writing partnerEmbry Carlysle. When we first met I thought she was a crazy arsed stalkier and then I got to know her. I am still debating on the crazy arsed stalker thing, but what I did find out is that she is a pretty awesome chick. Sometimes I honestly think that we share the one brain, it has gotten to the stage that we can finish each other’s sentences – especially when it comes to the paranormal parallel universe that we are working on. Now without further ado I will let her tell you in her own words what she is all about. To see my answers to the same questions you need to go to Embry's blog - Take the short cut on the right hand side of my blog, simply click on her picture and it will tale it there. (Under my Profile.)

Tell us how this particular story came about? Was there a particular instant when it all just fell into place and you thought that is my next story?

Stories are always floating around in my head, but for this particular story was inspired by an adorable picture I found online of the cutest couple ever kissing at what appears to be a Halloween Party. From there the story took form.

How long have you been writing?

It feels like forever, but serious writing began a few years ago and I have focused on the m/m genre in the last year.

How do you choose which genre and flavour your story line will take, and what influences your choice?

Paranormal is my first love, so naturally my current WIP’s are paranormal.

What is your specific writing style, if any?

I really wouldn’t say I have a specific style, other than I always have a bit of humour in them. Life is far too serious in the real world and I think humour helps “lighten” our subconscious. Allowing the reader to “relax and enjoy” for a moment.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging about bringing a story to life?

Oh my yes, several things come to mind. I think for me it’s always a challenge to stay focused on a current storyline, because my over active imagination tends to pop up new storylines at the most inopportune time.

NJ: That is why you have me to help keep you on track – can you feel that whip?

Who is your favourite character you‘ve written to date and why?

Oh wow that’s a tough one. I think in each story I have a favourite while I’m writing it, but if I had to pick one off the top of my head it would be Sean from a story I haven’t finished. He is a Rock Star who can see ghosts and just about the funniest and funnest (is that even a word) character to write.

Which character in your body of works was the hardest to write?

Probably the one I’m working on now. Jamie was a victim of child-abuse and for me that is very difficult to write, because it is heartbreaking on so many levels.

Which stories have you enjoyed working on the most and why?

My ghost story for sure, but also my story based on Greek Mythology. I am a huge fan of all things mythological.

What will people come away with after reading your books?

Hopefully they will love my characters as much I have loved writing them. That for a few minutes they could escape into another world full of alpha heroes and the men they love.

What are you currently reading?

Well your stories of course. LOL

NJ: Well said, and I didn't even have to pay her that much to say it… LMAO.

What music is in your stereo at the moment? And does it influence the way you write?

I listen to a plethora of songs. Just depends on what kind of mood I’m in I suppose. Whatever the scene is at the time I’m writing it, I find different music to fit the mood so to speak.

Are you still as passionate about writing as you were when you first started?

Oh most definitely, I plan to write until my fingers fall off.

Name three Authors you read over and over again?

Mary Calmes,
K.A. Mitchell
Larissa Ione,
And of course NJ Nielsen.

NJ: (Okay that one was all Emb’ I didn’t bribe her for that one – Psst, the money is in the mail.)

Can you share any of your current WIPS?

Well considering that’s all I have, sure. My current one is about my cougar-shifter and the man whose soul he saves.

NJ: Ahem – did you forget the whole The Realms thing that we have going on… sheesh where is the loyalty?

For those readers that have yet to know you please tell us something about yourself.

This is always a tough question. Talking is never a problem for me, talking about myself…is. Let’s see I could give the standard answer of; I have always wanted to be a writer, which is definitely true. But it is my true love of the m/m genre that has truly inspired me. What could be better than writing stories that combine my two loves; m/m and paranormal? For me it is everything.

What's Happening Now...

Okay, I have had my Christmas story Angels on Top released at MLRPress, and it is also now available at Amazon. I can say that I am totally stoked and feel like a true author now.

I am going to keep the blog story Wind Walkers as a Monday story, and I will begin a new one for Fridays called Jettermane - as someone brought it back into my mind. I will begin that next Friday as I have Dr's appointments today with my daughter. That will give me time to find the right picture to use as the visual blog picture for the story. You all know I need the visual to help me write - I don't know why; I just do.

Today I am the guest blogger on Jadette Paige's blog. I will be giving the story behind the story on The Lines Of Marsden: Rules Are Meant To Be Broken.  I was so excited to do this when Jadette offered me the opportunity to tell the world why this particular series means so much to me.

If you get a chance drop by and leave me a comment or two. I will add a visual link to the left side of my blog for those who wish to click on that will take you right there. Besides my own there are many other great stories to be read.

It is at times like this I can't stop the smile from living permanently on my face. My daughter  said to me only yesterday that I am now a true author in her eyes because she has my Christmas story on her kindle - cracked me up laughing I can tell you.

On that note I must away and get ready to drive to Toowoomba, which I am not liking as it is wet and cold .

Blog Story News...

About My Boys...

It is funny how when I started this I only had Nico Redhawk in mind but when looking for inspiration I saw one picture Crimson Redhawk (Nico's brother) was born

Nico and Crimson may look alike but there personalities are polar opposites. Nico is calm and thinks things through, while Crimson jumps in feet first before thinking about the consequences. Crimson has no internal filter as you will see from the very first episode... So you know that Crimson will need a strong person to reign him in - If possible. I can't promise that Crimson will make it easy.

Dominic Manse is one of The Sentinels of the High City. He is very stoic and sort of quiet. he is the type of man that once he gives his heart, then the recipient (Nico Redhawk) has his whole support and loyalty. Upon realising that Nico is meant for him and him alone, he starts to see that there is more to the eye with his mate. He sees exactly how special Nico Redhawk really is, just as he realise it is upon his shoulder to now keep his special mate as safe as he can. Dominic also learns that his by the book way of doing things is going to be challenged while protecting Nico.

Raevyn Blue is the special type of being. He masquerades as a Sentinel most of the time and has been away from the High City - King Rothwell Macallister (Quinlan's father), sent him out on a mission before he died. Things went very wrong which ended with him not being able to complete his mission. As destiny chose another path for him

Raevyn does things without thinking, being who he is and who he is descended from has given him way too much leeway he is about to learn that all actions (no matter how good intentioned) come with consequences.

When Crimson Redhawk and company walk into his life, Raevyn is given choices. he must choose what to do that will enable him to have it all. How he can have both the mate he has long wished for and the new mission that he just can't push aside.

Z Allora!!!

Awesome Author & Fantastic Books

I First fell in love with the work of Z Allora when the wonderful Kris Jacen, of MLRPress shared with us a snippet of an up and coming new author. I was lucky enough to win her book The Dark Angels: With Wings at Ethan Day's - GAY DAY not long afterwards, and I can tell you I have read it so many time since then I can honestly class the boys in the band as family.

I think the way these books are written are just suck you in, and makes you want to cheer along in the happy times and grab the tissues and offer your arms to hold them in the sad times. So often in this book I wanted to reach through the pages and offer them all my support and love - That is what made this a great book for me.
Since then I have left some reviews telling people how much I love this book, and I may have harassed poor Kris a time or two asking when the next one was coming. One day I clicked into my emails and I actually had a message from the author... after I finished jumping around the room dancing like a maniac with excitement.; I calmed down and answered Z... I was still in shock that Z Allora had messaged me (I may have rung my daughter and husband letting them know that I was snoopy dancing over this - it was the kind of excitement where you nearly pee yourself.)

Since then Z and I have been corresponding and are fast becoming friends which to me is the best part in all of this. I have always enjoyed making new friends and I know that Z and I will stay in contact... It is great having someone who I really admire that I can share ideas with and ask advice.

Funniest thing - Had to share

City Council Anthem - Every Day I'm Shovelling!!!

This just proved what a little imagination, a great song and some very creative children can do - they chose to make this very funny video of the city councils - suits so much of Australia. These kids made this video instead of going away to party at Schoolies. (huge end of year drunk-fest for school leavers - though I should add that not all schoolies get drunk, there are a variety of other entertainment organised for them as well.)
