Weekly Read

Jan Irving: The Janitor (The Contenders)

I have wanted to write about one of my favourite authors for a long time now... but I found it hard to choose which book to write about, and in the end The Janitor won out.

I can hear you asking why? All I can say about that is I seriously doubt that anyone could read this book and not fall in love with Dane in his innocence and with Noel that complements him so well...

This is book 1 in The Contenders series there are two so far but I am hoping that  there are more to follow... So If you read this Jan I beg for the many that love Dane... Please... Please... Please write some more.

I loved this book for many reasons... but first and foremost it is because of Dane's thought patterns... He fascinates me in the way he goes about things, and for the reasons behind why he does them. It is as heartbreaking as it is beautiful. I love the way Noel struggles to be there the way that Dane needs him.

This story is definitely one that you need to read with a box of tissues... every time I read this story I have to have them close at hand and I have talked to many friends that have felt the same way.

Jan has done a wonderful job of writing with this story, and I love the way she has the bad guy. Of how Dane and Noel overcome all that is thrown at them. Facing it together is what gets them through. These two characters make you just want to jump right into their world, throw your arms around them, and love on them for just a little bit.

I have loved everything I have ever read by Jan and can highly recommend her as a brilliant read other works I have loved are:

Uncommon Cowboy series
Mastering Toby series.
Sylvan series
Wylde series

The Summer Gardner
Jesse
Mask

I could name more but I would be here all day... On that note I will away, and leave you with this... please go and read Jan Irving's books if you haven't, because if you don't, you will be really missing out on some wonderful stuff.

Freaky Shit That Happens To Me!!!

Okay, let me just start off by saying that I hate spiders... I mean I really hate spiders... I will not even walk in a room if I know there is a spider in there... Well I was driving yesterday and I caught movement out of the corner of my eye... a huge huntsman was crawling up my drivers side window... and thank F*ck it was on the outside. As it was I nearly had an accident. When I say huge I mean, think it's leg span was probably as round as a  burger from Mickey Dee's... terrified as I was I watched it run all over the window and windscreen and then in behind the glass of my side mirror.

I had to sit there for a while (Just to make sure it didn't come out). Then I could make my dash for freedom... just thinking about it now gives me the heebee geebee's... That thing could have bitten my arm off. Viscous little suckers they are.

Short & Sweet

I have been awake for almost 30 hrs... due to attending a Goodreads chat group and then I stayed up to attend Gay Day... I have had a blast but now I am over tired and wide awake... but that could be caused by too much coffee and Coke... the soft drink not the drug.

I have been mainly working on extending Shadows on the Heart... but I better not work on it today or anything else for that matter, because I don't know what gobbledy-gook I could end up with. It probably would not be pretty.

Another Piece of Me

Recently  someone asked me me why I write? And the first words out of my mouth were: Why do you breath?

Writing to me is just as necessary as breathing. My fingers are itching to start working as soon as my eyes open... and lately it has been in the wee hours of the morning. Vlad (my Muse) doesn't understand the need for sleep. If he is excited about something, then I need to be up and writing. Which I don't mind as it means that I will also be excited about it as soon as my brain kicks in.

I don't plot... I know I have said that before... I am sure Vlad plots; he just isn't so forthcoming with me about it all... but working together as a team we do well.

At the moment we are tossing up between two stories to work on... Harlin's Heart is book 1 in the Paying It Forward series, and the second book is On the Flipside of Reverse which will be book 2 in the Time Kings series and will be Kylfa and Tucker's story.

I know that maybe my stories are not for everyone, but that doesn't matter to me... As long as one person enjoys something I have written then that has made it all worth it. These stories are in my head and it is just a matter of time before I get around to writing them all. If nothing comes of them publication wise I will still be happy knowing that I have left a little piece of me to be passed down through my own family.

Family is another great thing about writing... My family may not understand why I write the M/M genre that I do, but they are all proud that I have achieved a small part of my dream.  I am not something to be hidden away like a secret. My family quite happily and proudly tells everyone what I do... so I think if they are not ashamed of me then why should I be? Not that I have ever been ashamed of being me. Their pride in me just allows me to be open about my writing choices.

I say if you have an urge to write then do it... because someone somewhere will be willing to listen.

Weekly Read- Ally Blue

Easy by Ally Blue.

This is one of the books that warms my heart, I fell in love with Stevie Sanger from the moment from the first heartbreaking moment where Dan Corazon finds him.  That was the moment that I realised that this was going to be an exceptional book. I must confide that this was the first book I have ever read by Ally Blue, but it wasn't the last, as this one story made me buy everything I could lay my hands on and I can tell you that I have enjoyed them all.

Ally brought these characters to life beautifully and in such a way that it was hard not to let them worm their way into your heart. From Stevie's angst about his past to become the beautiful person he did was mesmerising to me. I loved that Stevie didn't let the world get him down.

I also loved the fact that Dan had to fight his own inner demons to be able to accept who he really was. And not let the rest of society dictate to who he should be.

Ally's writing flows so beautifully and tells such a wonderful tale that it is hard not to get emotionally involved with these characters.

Other books by Ally Blue that I have enjoyed are as follows:

Bay City Paranormal Investigation series.
Eight Arms To Hold Me.
Fireflies.
Forgotten Song.
The Happy Onion.
Untamed Heart
Willow Bend.

There are many more that I could recommend but I just wanted to give you a starting place. If you haven't read any of her work then I say give Ally a chance because I know that you will enjoy her work as much as I do.
