So Here We Are!!!

The End Of Another Year
& Things To Be Proud Of!!!

So many awesome thing and people have come into my life this year that I feel like the big guy upstairs is looking down and smiling upon my life. I have founds some great friends (you all know who you are). I finally got published, which I admit I am still snoopy dancing over. I feel okay now when asked what I do for a living and I say I am an author.

I have found some great music this year mainly due to Emily forcing it on me - LOL, but shh we just won't tell her that as she will never let me live it down. Though, my faves are still my faves and I still love them all the best.

Family - what can I say we lost some, we gained some and everyone is happy and healthy and fingers crossed they stay that way (Not counting the hubs tearing the muscle off his forearm - dumbarse - it's all I'm saying.)

Tomorrow I will give you all my intended goals for 2012. I have a few so I need you all to kick me in the arse when I start to fall behind.

On that note I will end with some wise words from Eminem

"I don't care if you're black, white, straight,
bisexual, gay, lesbian,
short, tall, fat, skinny, rich or poor.
If you're nice to me, I'll be nice to you.
Simple as that."

What's The Goss!!!

I Just had the best news last night, my good friend Z Allora got the release date for the second book in The Dark Angels series. Tied Together will be released on  January 6th at MLRPress  I can so not wait for this book to be released I have been snoopy dancing since we found out.

I have until the 10th of January to finish writing a short Novella for the Valintine Day antho for MLRPress
I am doing the second book in the Toowoomba Boys series it is two years since we met the boys in Angels on Top. The story I am now working on is called Hunting for Clay. I figure if I write 2K a day then I will stay on track.

I have begun edits on The Lines Of Marsden: Rules Are Made To Be Broken (I still haven't gotten the final cover yet.) I can tell you that the edits aren't really anything major at this stage but I have come to hate the words (like - look - smile - that & ...)
I never realised just how much I used them until they were pointed out to me. But I suppose it is another step closer to getting a release date.

On Occasion I will be writing posts on another blog that I am involved with. Paranormal Paradigms. I will let you know each time I post. I will set up an easy link on the left side of my blog so you can get there without trouble.

The Former series that went by the title The Realms of the Great Beyond has now been changed to S.P.A.M. Inc. (Suspicious Paranormal Activity Monitoring Incorporated.)

Anne Tenino.

I just want to intro my good friend Anne Tenino, she has a new free read out and I think you should all read it as it is bloody good. The Fix is another look into the lives of the boys From Whitetail Rock S without Further ado I bring you Anne Tenino.

About the author:
While spending most of the last three years recovering from Lyme Disease, Anne Tenino started writing again. The Lyme Disease led to the demise of her “real” job, meaning she suddenly had the time. She began writing for her own entertainment in third grade, but life intervened, and she didn't get around to submitting anything to a publisher until the week of her 40th birthday. In the long, rainy, Pacific Northwest winter, writing is sometimes a mood-saver.

Anne's husband is adorably confused by her love of reading and writing about man lurve, but he's always been a supportive sort. Just don't ask him to read it. Her two school-aged daughters think it's cool Mom's a writer but aren't clear on why they can't tell Gramma about it.

When not writing, Anne likes to read, travel, cook, and shirk housework.

The Fix:

Whitetail Rock:

Both of these stories feature Nik and Jurgen. (For those of you who are wondering, I have a third planned story featuring Sam that I’m writing now.)
The Blurb:
Confident almost to the point of arrogance, Jurgen never worried about his boyfriend leaving him until he overheard Nik telling his best friend he wants to move out of town. That's when the macho cop realizes that maybe asking Nik to move back to tiny Whitetail Rock—where he was tormented when he was younger for being gay and looking different—wasn't Jurgen's most brilliant idea. Now he's on a mission to find a way to fix things so Nik will stay. Which should be no problem because he's good at fixing stuff, right?
Nik isn't sure what he was thinking, moving back to his hometown after graduating with his MFA. Jobs in his field are non-existent and reminders of some of the worst times in his life are abundant. But Jurgen lives in Whitetail Rock, and Nik is willing to put up with a hell of a lot to be with him. Except maybe Jurgen's own efforts to "fix" something that's not broken...

The Excerpt:
Jurgen and Nik had an argument over Jurgen acting like a caveman and as a result, Jurgen went out to sleep on the couch. Now it’s the middle of the night and he comes back to bed to be with Nik. Nik has been lying awake for hours, thinking, and he’s sort of over his mad, and maybe ready to figure out what was really going on with Jurgen.
Excerpt:
“I’m awake,” Nik whispered.
Jurgen froze, leaning over his side of the bed. Then he climbed in and got under the covers. He sighed heavily once he’d settled in. “I forgot my pillow out there,” he whispered to Nik.
For one crazy, completely altruistic moment, Nik thought about going to get it for Jurgen. Then it passed. Instead, he rolled on his side, facing Jurgen. Not too close. He laid a hand on Jurgen’s chest.
Jurgen’s hand came up immediately and grabbed Nik’s, tangling their fingers and pressing Nik’s palm into Jurgen’s T-shirt. Nik’s heart went into overdrive. Jurgen’s beat steadily under his hand.
“Jurgen, just tell me what it is.”
“What?” Jurgen turned his head toward Nik, away from the dim light coming in the window. Nik couldn’t see his face very well, but he could feel Jurgen breathing between them.
“Is it a brain tumor? Lou Gehrig’s disease? What? Just tell me, Jurgen.” Nik squeezed Jurgen’s hand so tight he thought one of his knuckles might pop right out of his skin.
“What are you talking about, Nik?”
“You’re scaring me. You’re acting all…loving and stuff. It’s completely unlike you.”
“I don’t act loving toward you?” Jurgen almost sounded hurt.
“Not like this. You don’t hold my hand or go off tilting at windmills for me.”
Jurgen stared at him in the dark.
“Don Quixote. He thought the windmills were some kind of monster or something, so he’d attack them.”
“So, Miller is my personal windmill?”
“Better than your personal Waterloo.” Nik knew he wouldn’t have to explain Waterloo.
Jurgen sighed and turned his head. Now Nik could see his profile. He had such a sexy nose. “Jurgen, please. Just tell me what’s wrong.”
Jurgen shrugged stiffly. His chest shifted and slid under their hands. “I wanted to do something nice for you.”
Oh. That was so—
Shut up.
“That required you to do something cruel to Miller?” Even if it was incredibly sweet.
“Why do you care so much about how Miller feels?” Jurgen’s voice was angry again that fast.
A-ha “Why do you sound jealous?”
“I’m not jealous! I’m mad!”
“Uh-huh.” Nik smiled to himself. He pushed up on his elbow, but Jurgen wouldn’t let go of his hand, which made straddling Jurgen’s hips a little awkward.
“What are you doing?” Now he sounded grouchy. In a forced way.
“I’m going to use my masculine wiles to get you to talk to me.” Nik could feel Jurgen under him, between his legs. Soft and warm.
“I am talking to you.” Jurgen let go of Nik’s hand, settling his on Nik’s hips. Already his voice sounded more normal. Slower. Nik rubbed himself once or twice lightly against Jurgen’s groin. Just to get the show on the road. Jurgen’s voice dropped lower. “I can talk this way, too, though.”

One Last Kiss Goodbye - Music.

Music to help me write  Kayne Henderson.

I am absolutely loving writing one of my new characters: Kayne Henderson, he is one of the main Characters in my WIP: One Last Kiss Goodbye. I hope you will all enjoy reading about him as much as I have enjoyed writing the love story between Kayne and Jacen Ives. This song by The Warren Brothers (Better Man) just suits Kayne's character to a T

Taylor V Donovan.

My friend Taylor V Donovan finally has her release date – December 30th 2011 for her novel Six Degrees of Lust. It will be released through MLRPress. Do yourself a favour and mark it on your calendars as a must buy – Because believe me this book is definitely a must read. Six Degrees of Lust will suck you in and leave you wanting for more from the very first word. I was privileged enough to get to read more than a few snippets while writing and cannot wait to read the completed product. I fell in love with each and everyone one of these characters – my favourite is Sasha and his story is yet to come so you all know I will be patiently waiting (or pestering Taylor to write faster) for the rest of the books to become available.

Taylor gave us all a brief glimpse into the By Degrees world with her Christmas Short: Southern Winterlands, also available from MLRPress.

Slowly Creeping In.

OMG!!! What A Year!!!

I can't believe how fast this year is drawing to an end. More to the point I can't believe how much my life has changed in the last six months. it was the 19th of July that I received my first contract to sign for MLRPress for The Lines Of Marsden: Rules Are Meant To Be Broken, I have participated in and written my first free story Shadows on the Heart. which has since earned me a nomination in the Member's Choice Awards. I wrote the first part in my Blog story, Children of Varnuse: When The Walls Come Tumbling Down, and have just started the second part - Wind Walkers. I am also as of tomorrow writing a second Blog story Jettermane a vampire base society.I received a contract from MLRPress for my Christmas Short Angels on Top. I got my first rejection from Samhain for Windblown Kisses: My Knight in Tarnished Armour - So I am now looking for a new home for that series. I participated in and completed NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) total count 50707 on Watson Falls: Between One Heartbeat & The Next. it is a shifter series and will be a spin-off from my Pack Matters series.

I have made tons of new friends and have thought of tons of new storyline ideas. I have found myself a sometimes writing partner in the fabulous Embry Carlysle and we are busy creating our new universe for The Realms of the Great Beyond - you will all be hearing plenty about that next year. on January 1st I will give you all a run-down on my writing goals for 2012.

My Take On A Classic Christmas Poem...

Twas The Night Before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas & I was stuck in this place,
Everything was gone – the whole human race.
I wasn’t alone, I found one by my side,
We fought for our lives until we decided to hide.

The war raging outside, we made a small bed,
We snuggled down deep and covered our heads.
He, in his blue jeans, scarf and tight shirt,
Me, dressed the same and willing to flirt.

With sly little looks, and skin touching skin,
Blocked out the world and the trouble we’re in.
Between soft gentle kisses & losing our clothes,
And tiny caresses that tingle our toes.

Lips meeting lips when he started to purr,
His teeth elongated as he sprouted some fur.
My eyes opened wide – I trembled in fear,
I struggled a lot yet he pulled me near.

He nuzzled my neck & crumbled my core,
He nipped at my throat & I offered him more.
So many warnings screamed in my head,
I pressed my lips tight so they couldn’t be said.

So many things he whispered down low,
Telling me how he couldn’t let me go.
I gazed in his eyes that had turned pale blue,
No understanding – I hadn’t a clue.

Some things I need to make this all clear,
What’s happening? Why am I here?
He smiled sadly and said it was fate.
He’d love me forever because I was his mate.

He told me his name on a long winded sigh,
While I was in shock & wanted to cry.
Alden Langley and he was a fox
All that ran through my mind – I’m still wearing socks.

He moved just a little, I watched fur recede,
I studied him closely, his eyes full of need.
My heart all but broke, my eyes filled with tears,
Deep down inside I sensed all his fears.

I realised right then that mine were the same,
So I smiled and told him my name.
“I’m Hector Lewis, my friends call me Heck,”
I tilted my head & he again kissed my neck.

He whispered a tale of the new world I’m in,
It was a tear in space that brought me to him.
A wish made on a long ago on a faraway night.
Brought our world crashing & locking up tight.

I came from Earth & he from afar,
Alden’s home is on a faraway star.
Both ripped through time & and also through space
Is how we ended in this unknown place.

I started laughing till tears flowed free,
How the fuck did this happen to me?
I felt like I was crazy – like this wasn’t real
I reached out a hand I just had to feel.

Maybe this was a dream or I was dead,
Or something fucked up, that was just in my head.
But nothing quite mattered as he fondled my balls
Merry Christmas to me & to you, one & all.

Embry Carlysle Q & A.

Okay I am going to introduce you to my very good friend and my sometimes writing partnerEmbry Carlysle. When we first met I thought she was a crazy arsed stalkier and then I got to know her. I am still debating on the crazy arsed stalker thing, but what I did find out is that she is a pretty awesome chick. Sometimes I honestly think that we share the one brain, it has gotten to the stage that we can finish each other’s sentences – especially when it comes to the paranormal parallel universe that we are working on. Now without further ado I will let her tell you in her own words what she is all about. To see my answers to the same questions you need to go to Embry's blog - Take the short cut on the right hand side of my blog, simply click on her picture and it will tale it there. (Under my Profile.)

Tell us how this particular story came about? Was there a particular instant when it all just fell into place and you thought that is my next story?

Stories are always floating around in my head, but for this particular story was inspired by an adorable picture I found online of the cutest couple ever kissing at what appears to be a Halloween Party. From there the story took form.

How long have you been writing?

It feels like forever, but serious writing began a few years ago and I have focused on the m/m genre in the last year.

How do you choose which genre and flavour your story line will take, and what influences your choice?

Paranormal is my first love, so naturally my current WIP’s are paranormal.

What is your specific writing style, if any?

I really wouldn’t say I have a specific style, other than I always have a bit of humour in them. Life is far too serious in the real world and I think humour helps “lighten” our subconscious. Allowing the reader to “relax and enjoy” for a moment.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging about bringing a story to life?

Oh my yes, several things come to mind. I think for me it’s always a challenge to stay focused on a current storyline, because my over active imagination tends to pop up new storylines at the most inopportune time.

NJ: That is why you have me to help keep you on track – can you feel that whip?

Who is your favourite character you‘ve written to date and why?

Oh wow that’s a tough one. I think in each story I have a favourite while I’m writing it, but if I had to pick one off the top of my head it would be Sean from a story I haven’t finished. He is a Rock Star who can see ghosts and just about the funniest and funnest (is that even a word) character to write.

Which character in your body of works was the hardest to write?

Probably the one I’m working on now. Jamie was a victim of child-abuse and for me that is very difficult to write, because it is heartbreaking on so many levels.

Which stories have you enjoyed working on the most and why?

My ghost story for sure, but also my story based on Greek Mythology. I am a huge fan of all things mythological.

What will people come away with after reading your books?

Hopefully they will love my characters as much I have loved writing them. That for a few minutes they could escape into another world full of alpha heroes and the men they love.

What are you currently reading?

Well your stories of course. LOL

NJ: Well said, and I didn't even have to pay her that much to say it… LMAO.

What music is in your stereo at the moment? And does it influence the way you write?

I listen to a plethora of songs. Just depends on what kind of mood I’m in I suppose. Whatever the scene is at the time I’m writing it, I find different music to fit the mood so to speak.

Are you still as passionate about writing as you were when you first started?

Oh most definitely, I plan to write until my fingers fall off.

Name three Authors you read over and over again?

Mary Calmes,
K.A. Mitchell
Larissa Ione,
And of course NJ Nielsen.

NJ: (Okay that one was all Emb’ I didn’t bribe her for that one – Psst, the money is in the mail.)

Can you share any of your current WIPS?

Well considering that’s all I have, sure. My current one is about my cougar-shifter and the man whose soul he saves.

NJ: Ahem – did you forget the whole The Realms thing that we have going on… sheesh where is the loyalty?

For those readers that have yet to know you please tell us something about yourself.

This is always a tough question. Talking is never a problem for me, talking about myself…is. Let’s see I could give the standard answer of; I have always wanted to be a writer, which is definitely true. But it is my true love of the m/m genre that has truly inspired me. What could be better than writing stories that combine my two loves; m/m and paranormal? For me it is everything.

What's Happening Now...

Okay, I have had my Christmas story Angels on Top released at MLRPress, and it is also now available at Amazon. I can say that I am totally stoked and feel like a true author now.

I am going to keep the blog story Wind Walkers as a Monday story, and I will begin a new one for Fridays called Jettermane - as someone brought it back into my mind. I will begin that next Friday as I have Dr's appointments today with my daughter. That will give me time to find the right picture to use as the visual blog picture for the story. You all know I need the visual to help me write - I don't know why; I just do.

Today I am the guest blogger on Jadette Paige's blog. I will be giving the story behind the story on The Lines Of Marsden: Rules Are Meant To Be Broken.  I was so excited to do this when Jadette offered me the opportunity to tell the world why this particular series means so much to me.

If you get a chance drop by and leave me a comment or two. I will add a visual link to the left side of my blog for those who wish to click on that will take you right there. Besides my own there are many other great stories to be read.

It is at times like this I can't stop the smile from living permanently on my face. My daughter  said to me only yesterday that I am now a true author in her eyes because she has my Christmas story on her kindle - cracked me up laughing I can tell you.

On that note I must away and get ready to drive to Toowoomba, which I am not liking as it is wet and cold .

Blog Story News...

About My Boys...

It is funny how when I started this I only had Nico Redhawk in mind but when looking for inspiration I saw one picture Crimson Redhawk (Nico's brother) was born

Nico and Crimson may look alike but there personalities are polar opposites. Nico is calm and thinks things through, while Crimson jumps in feet first before thinking about the consequences. Crimson has no internal filter as you will see from the very first episode... So you know that Crimson will need a strong person to reign him in - If possible. I can't promise that Crimson will make it easy.

Dominic Manse is one of The Sentinels of the High City. He is very stoic and sort of quiet. he is the type of man that once he gives his heart, then the recipient (Nico Redhawk) has his whole support and loyalty. Upon realising that Nico is meant for him and him alone, he starts to see that there is more to the eye with his mate. He sees exactly how special Nico Redhawk really is, just as he realise it is upon his shoulder to now keep his special mate as safe as he can. Dominic also learns that his by the book way of doing things is going to be challenged while protecting Nico.

Raevyn Blue is the special type of being. He masquerades as a Sentinel most of the time and has been away from the High City - King Rothwell Macallister (Quinlan's father), sent him out on a mission before he died. Things went very wrong which ended with him not being able to complete his mission. As destiny chose another path for him

Raevyn does things without thinking, being who he is and who he is descended from has given him way too much leeway he is about to learn that all actions (no matter how good intentioned) come with consequences.

When Crimson Redhawk and company walk into his life, Raevyn is given choices. he must choose what to do that will enable him to have it all. How he can have both the mate he has long wished for and the new mission that he just can't push aside.

Z Allora!!!

Awesome Author & Fantastic Books

I First fell in love with the work of Z Allora when the wonderful Kris Jacen, of MLRPress shared with us a snippet of an up and coming new author. I was lucky enough to win her book The Dark Angels: With Wings at Ethan Day's - GAY DAY not long afterwards, and I can tell you I have read it so many time since then I can honestly class the boys in the band as family.

I think the way these books are written are just suck you in, and makes you want to cheer along in the happy times and grab the tissues and offer your arms to hold them in the sad times. So often in this book I wanted to reach through the pages and offer them all my support and love - That is what made this a great book for me.
Since then I have left some reviews telling people how much I love this book, and I may have harassed poor Kris a time or two asking when the next one was coming. One day I clicked into my emails and I actually had a message from the author... after I finished jumping around the room dancing like a maniac with excitement.; I calmed down and answered Z... I was still in shock that Z Allora had messaged me (I may have rung my daughter and husband letting them know that I was snoopy dancing over this - it was the kind of excitement where you nearly pee yourself.)

Since then Z and I have been corresponding and are fast becoming friends which to me is the best part in all of this. I have always enjoyed making new friends and I know that Z and I will stay in contact... It is great having someone who I really admire that I can share ideas with and ask advice.

Funniest thing - Had to share

City Council Anthem - Every Day I'm Shovelling!!!

This just proved what a little imagination, a great song and some very creative children can do - they chose to make this very funny video of the city councils - suits so much of Australia. These kids made this video instead of going away to party at Schoolies. (huge end of year drunk-fest for school leavers - though I should add that not all schoolies get drunk, there are a variety of other entertainment organised for them as well.)

Em's Turn

I have two this week the top one is the HMS Ocean's rendition of a pretty famous Christmas song, and the bottom one is a group of 7 year olds doing their take on Beyonce's song all the single ladies, i think when they are older they'll be amazing dancers
