Admetus Gaea... & Other Things

As everyone knows... whenever I'm sick I have a tendency to fall back to my original story. The one that got me started in writing in the first place... In the beginning it was subbed at Silver Publishing... after they went bust... I subbed it to Wayward Ink Press, and got feedback saying it was too busy and I needed to pull it apart and reconstruct the first story into three... giving each couple their own story...

At the time I was like what the fuck... I really didn't want to reconstruct an already written story... I know in the years that have passed I have talked about doing it... but, just never got around to actually starting... With the 6 month hiatus I've had from writing I sat down and re read the story and finally saw what the people at Wayward Ink Press were talking about... so tentatively I've been  writing up notes on how to do what was asked. I even wrote 4 chapters in the new storyline... I wanted to keep the bases of my original story, but tweak it enough so each couple has their time in the light. So now I have to change 1 X 40K novella into 3 X 40K novellas and still end up at the same place. More to the point have the first novella's prologue be the last novella's epilogue..

I have changed the series name to Admetus Gaea and the first story title to: The Gaean Prophecy... so basically I just reversed them... I have also realised doing it this way there are potentials for more stories... but here are the first three.

ADMETUS GAEA
The Gaean Prophecy
Broken Serenity
New World Alliance

I'm hoping that it doesn't take me long... I might even set it aside for my first for 2017 book. I'm trying to figure out the 22 I want to do for the challenge I had to postpone a year... sorry folks... I need to write what fires my imagination... I will just say that there will definitely one The Lines Of Marsden... and The Connelly Chronicles and the rest will be up in the air... for the Penny Brandon Challenge.

I'm No Longer An Author With Silver Publishing...

As of the 10th of April I'm no longer an author at Silver Publishing... I've received my rights back to all of my books...

Now I'll have to find new homes for them all, and expand on the shorter ones so they make more sense and don't feel rushed.

After the last few weeks I've been through I'm happy just to have the rights back... will I see any of the monies owed to me ? I very much doubt it.

So be on the lookout for the new covers/versions of:

1. A Moon-Runner Christmas (this one I definitely want to expand on and may even turn into a series).
2. One Last Kiss Goodbye (not sure if I'll leave as is or expand).
3. Gaean Prophacies: Admetus Gaea
4. The Connelly Chronicles: Family Connections.

The saddest part will be losing all the beautiful cover art created by the very talented Reese Dante...

NEWS!

The first and best news is: my niece Cath is out of her coma and doing well... We can only hope that every day she gets a little better.

I've just received notice that my rights are converting back to me for two of my Silver Publishing releases...

1: A Moon Runner Christmas
2: One Last Kiss Goodbye

I'm thinking this would be  a great time to revise and lengthen both books... I'm so excited... there was so much I wanted to add - especially to A Moon-Runner Christmas. I've had so many requests from readers who want me to write more for that story and now I feel that I can.

Excerpt:
Prologue

The end

Grayson knew he wasn't born of this world because he could still remember his past, yet he knew with every fibre of his being that he belonged here. The world he now found himself in, and these creatures that lived here, were in his blood. At first he hadn't understood where he was, or how he'd gotten here--or if 'here' was even real. He thought maybe everything he was experiencing was the symptom of some coma-induced dream, filled with the silent stories that his foster brother, Jarkebb, used to tell him. In the end, Grayson found it didn't matter anymore. Here, all those characters he'd always loved and hated so much were now more than just a figment of his overactive imagination.
Here--they were real!
Grayson looked down at his wounded companion, "Let me tell you a story." Closing his eyes, he stroked the long red hair as his friend's head lay in Grayson's lap. It was matted with blood. Grayson didn't know if it was theirs or one of their enemies--and didn't care. Grayson let his mind drift back to the day he woke up and found that he no longer existed. He concentrated hard on the events that occurred just before his life had changed forever. He could almost taste the smoothness of the Baileys on the rocks, could almost feel the warmth that flowed through him as Jarkebb wrapped his arms around him in an excited hug. A smile touched his mouth as he recalled his other life. He didn't want to have to think about the sound of the feet that were marching towards them, knowing that today might very well be the day that they all died.
And so his story began.

* * * *

The beginning

Lord Jondalar Arindad's body prickled with apprehension as he watched the wizard walk toward the Sigale. Even now it filled him with a sense of awe that the gateway still stood proud and tall in the pale moonlight. The sense he got was as if the Sigale knew its very reason for being was for tonight and tonight alone. No one knew for certain just how long the sacred gates had existed. Some say the gates had been this way since the dawn of time. Others say they were a gift from the Great Dragons that had once freely roamed over the skies of Gaea. No one could know for certain until the Great Dragons wished to reveal themselves once more--not like that was ever likely to happen. In all the searches that had been made for their hidden lair, no one had come close to locating the creatures.

The ancient prophecies foretold a stranger who would come as a gift from the Goddess herself. With his arrival, a great change would begin. This change would awaken the Great Ones, and unite all Gaeans as one. Over a thousand generations had come and gone since the last Great Dragon had been sighted.

A thousand generations, during which Gaea had fallen into war and darkness.

A thousand generations in which despair had run rampant until all hope was lost.

The Sigales were created for something. They were meant to change the way of things, yet in recent history this particular gate had been used only twice. Once to send away someone who was banished, and now tonight it was being used to bring that same someone home.

War was coming.

Jarkebb Arindad had been in banishment for the past fifteen years. Now with the great unrest happening between the continents, he was needed home again. His return would bring forth the stranger destined by the Goddess.

The wizard stood before the Sigale. Turning slightly, the wizard looked directly into his eyes to confirm all was in readiness to begin. At the slight inclination of his head, the magic man turned once more to face the Sigale. His whole being seemed focussed upon the incantation he was about to perform. Closing his eyes and breathing deeply of the crisp night air, he watched as the wizard raised his arms towards the heavens and began.

"Ky del aeel ja emryss (I call upon the eye of the world,)
Tam liena na hale ghen (Where creation did begin.)
Ky del aeel fom Belda Gaea (I call upon our Mother Earth,)
Da gil sha sutrhun ralta" (To promise her power within.)

As the wind picking up in velocity, Jondalar's hair whipped about his face as he stared at the wizard's fingers lightly tracing over the intricate patterns upon the surface of the Sigale. The gateway was once more coming alive under his caress. Soon... soon the sacred gate would be fully open between the worlds and his son would be able to return home where he belonged. Jondalar stood and watched, just to make sure the fool wizard was doing everything right. He didn't want to come so close, only to have it ripped away from him.

"Ky del aeel ja Dragon essane (I call upon the dragon's breath,)
Da Dias ja Sigale se frie (To open the gates of time.)
Ky del aeel ja dos nodine (I call upon the four winds,)
Jaey sutrhun da mietscra (Their powers to entwine.)
Ky del aeel ja dye fen sutan (I call upon the sun's own strength,)
Da raden ja janadrae hi (To light the traveller's way.)
Ky del aeel ja santarn dho (I call upon the rainbow's end,)
Tam Gaeae sutan anahol li" (Where Earth's strength does lie.)

The power in the air surrounding them began pulsating like the beating of a heart. The wind's intensity grew stronger, wailing in unison with the sound of the wizard's voice. Jondalar felt as if the very earth itself was rising up to wrap itself lovingly and protectively around his body, their presence responding to the ancient language in which the other man spoke.
As the Wizard Kynnan chanted, Jondalar's thoughts drifted to the beautiful face of the young man who had filled his dreams with nightmares for centuries. These nightmares had vanished with the banishment of his son. Jondalar hoped that his actions tonight would not bring them back once more. For fifteen years, he'd both longed for and dreaded this night because--while his son had been banished--so had the dreams. This wizard had better know what he was doing and not screw things up like the last one had.

"Ky del aeel loscae chenadae roden (I call upon the star's true light,)
Da jahen ja janadrae erros (To bring the travellers near.)
Ky del aeel ja winane bien trel (I call upon the first moonbeam,)
Grietan ralta ja Dragon deoc" (Trapped within a dragon's tear.)

Lightning tore across the darkened sky and thunder echoed through the nearby mountains. Both men could barely keep their bodies upright as the wizard fought to finish the incantation.

"Ky del aeel ja ranae se frie (I call upon the royals of time,)
Da Dias ja Sigale rya winon" (To open the gates as one.)

The wind buffeted around Jondalar's body as he desperately tried to hold onto his footing. The elements felt as though they were both helping and hindering all at the same time. None of that mattered. The only thing that did was the return of his son.
Jarkebb would be here soon.

"Ky del aeel liena gael (I call upon creation's hand,)
Da envay sha baha rhal" (To lead her lost souls home.)

The darkness exploded momentarily into daylight as the full force of the incantation was released around them. The sacred gate now stood aglow. As if by magic, the midday sun had come to replace it. The imagery was there for but a moment before everything imploded into utter chaos.

New contract & other news.

Just signed the contract with MLRPress for the second instalment of Sons of Evenmore: Blood to Blood. I'm so excited. my wonderful editor Christie N says I should have first edits in about 2 weeks.

This will give me me time to finish Toowoomba Boys: Dancing with Demons.

And just for a heads up the next book on my list is Lancaster's Way: A Different Way of Seeing.

Just did 1st EIC edits for The Gaean Prophecies: Admetus Gaea. from Silver... This story is a special story for me and I hope you all like it, and want more after I finish the initial three books.

I got gipped I tells ya!!! & Other news...

Yesterday I went with Emily and my hubs to Movie World - It's where Em wanted to go for her birthday (even though her b'day is Jan 9)... All I wanted was my picture taken with Marvin the Martian... but did I? Noooo.... there were only  2 characters that I saw dressed up and that was Austin Powers  & Marilyn Munroe. (Okay, so it might have been 45C/113F) but that's besides the fricken point. So anyway I decide second best thing is I'll buy some Marvin memorabilia-- I walk through every damn shop there was, and nothing - not one Marvin the Martian thing to be found... The good part is I never got sunburnt.

On a brighter note I hope to have the cover art for The Gaean Prophecies: Admetus Gaea in the next week or so - I'm so excited and can't wait to share - I just know Reece Dante will come up with something Amazing like she always does.

Okay, so far for 2014 I'm still 2 days ahead on my writing schedule for book 3 of the Toowoomba Boys: Dancing with Demons (Damon's story). I hope to be finished by the 16th. Then I hope to have  book 2 in Lancaster's Way: A Different Way Of Seeing (Chase's story) finished by the first week in Feb. At the moment book 2 in Sons of Evenmore: Blood to Blood (Jhex's story) is at the beta readers, and hope to have it subbed in the next week or so.

Day 2... What's the Hap!!!

I had a crap night's sleep last night - my mind just wouldn't shut down - could be because of all the voices in my head wanting their stories written next. Believe me that can get bloody noisy as hell.

To be honest I don't know what I will work on next. I'm just going to see what takes my fancy as soon as I write the last 2K of Sons of Evenmore: Blood To Blood. This will be finished today and sent to my beta James A.

"DONE!"

I can't wait to see what the wonderful Reece Dante comes up with cover wise for The Gaean Prophecies: Admetus Gaea

I need a new office chair - the one I have the lock keeps popping out and I nearly topple backwards - so not fun.

Why is it whenever you decide to clean your office/work station you always end up losing shit? I seriously have no clue where I've put some of the things I lose - though some people will find this funny the missing cheque book (that I lost way back in the beginning of last year) finally turned up. Em found it in her room - how it got there I'll never know.

2013: memories, dreams, & future plans.

Boys From The Bush: Bush Bashin' is the book that started of my year. This was one of the hardest books I have ever written for MLRPress - the reasons being:

I had never attempted to write in first person before - and found out that I totally suck at it.

I also wrote no sex in this book even though I knew it would lose me sales - the reason being is the time line of the book was so short I didn't feel right turning Ren & Frog into sluts... I love them just as they are.

I have been asked by some readers to write a prequel featuring the meeting of Lester and Alec the guys who own  Hazeldowns Station - I have put this off due to having to contemplate writing in first person again and if I have the guts to try if I did it would be called: Something That He Said

I wonder if I could just change to third person?

**~*~**

Sons of Evenmore: The Crimson Grimoire I loved writing... I loved the concept of this book. and the fact that it brings closure to two other series I have rattling around in my head (Pack Matters & Watson Falls).

I know I've published them arse-about - but that's just how it happened. Next year I hope to introduce you to Scott Creely and the guys from Pack Matters and then maybe the Sons of Evenmore will make more sense.

But for my first submission in 2014 I will be sending book 2 Blood to Blood to the wonderful Christie N at MLRPress for perusal. Fingers crossed she likes it... This is Jhex's story...

The next off the list will be Phoenix's story: Beneath a Red Moon.

**~*~**

The Connelly Chronicles: Family Connections has gone through many changes... most of all being it's name. This story has been close to my heart I have been dreaming of writing Ray and Viv's story for as long as I can remember. I've had many a late night phone call with one of my nieces as I bounced ideas off of her - So thanks Leigh Walker.

There are five stories in this series all revolving in and around the Connelly family. Book 2: Beautiful Goodbyes is more of a filler and definitely a happy for now book, but I feel you need it so book 3 & 4 can take place.

Ray & Viv may be a huge present in the following books but the stories do not revolve around them as some reviewers have suggested.

**~*~**

By The Way is part of the Blokes In Love anthology. which was a give-away at the OZMMMeet in Sydey in October. It is also availabe at Goodreads and other places.

I truly liked this story even though it was light and fluffy. I try not to take reviewers words to heart but at some point you have to say - "You know what? I don't give a rat's-arse what you think." I'm now using the mantra. If I please one person then that's all good. Even though some people thought the story moved too fast - I gained some new fans/followers from said story so all is good.

Shawn & Corey will always hold a spot in my heart... though to give due this story came about because of a conversation with Z Allora & Jambrea Jo Jones on Facebook.

**~*~**

Experimentals: Blessed With A Curse is a long time coming and will be my 1st release for 2014 - it will be releasing through MLRPress on January 17th.

I submitted this way back in June/July and due to some changes in editors it is only now just being released. I can't wait for this book to be released. The story introduces Storm Gennaro & Heath Madden and the world they live in where not everything is exactly human.

I've already started on book 2: Running Into Zero Tolerance (Linc & Gideon's story) and have ideas for book 3: Messages From The Dead (Delaney & Sydney's story).

I'm not sure if you would class this story as Urban Fantasy or Paranormal. I just know I had a hell of a lot of fun writing it.

**~*~**

The Gaean Prophecies: Admetus Gaea will be my 2nd release in 2014 and will be releasing on January 25th from Silver Publishing (I will add cover art when I receive it). This is the first story I ever wrote.

**Background Info** when I was just starting high school my dad had not long passed away. so mum kept me close to home and my one outlet was writing and so I began to create this other world parallel to our own. Grayson & Jondalar became a huge part of my life...

Back then did I ever think I would publish them - no way! I put the story away - okay, I may have lost it for around 30 years... cleaning up a couple of years ago I found the story and all the notes... and while re reading it for shits & giggles it occurred to me with some minor adjustments to modernise the story and adding punctuation I had a chance of getting this story published... there are three parts to this series the following two stories are: Broken Serenity & New World Alliance.

**Note to possible readers** This is a story that is told through the Pov of three different people (Grayson, Bailin, & Jarkebb)... they are not all in a three-way relationship- each has their own mate and roll to play in this story.

**~*~**

The Lines of Marsden: Living in Shadows. This will be my 3rd release for 2014 from MLRPress and will be coming out some time in March.I know we're not supposed to have favourite characters- But I have to admit these are mine.  I have loved Michael Marsden & Doyle Kerwin since their inception.

There are 18 books planned in this series, and most are partially written in some form or another Living In Shadows follows on from Rules Are Meant To Be Broken... and will hopefully soon be followed by book 3: You Make Me Die In Pieces

The series will follow 3 lines, and each line will have six books/stories to tell - though the stories themselves may have different main characters as wel - people from within the coven and pack.
  1.  Michael, Gypsy, & Benj.
  2. Raphael, Michaela, & Vladimir (who was named after the cat).
  3. Isaac, Rory, & Charlie.
**~*~**

Future Plans and Resolutions:
They're on in the same really -  I tried to make them as achievable as possible:
  1. Get Ten books published and/or mostly written.
  2. Catch up on filling in my character profiles so that I have them all on hand when needed. It will make my life so much easier.
  3. Keep on top of cleaning/yard work - I may have been a tad slack this year on the yard work - my small measure of OCD won't allow for a dirty house.
  4. Save up money for repairs/extensions - about 60K all up so this will be an ongoing resolution until everything gets done.
  5. Get rid of the surplus crap around house and yard - if we don't use it then it needs to go.

MY OTHER NEWS!!!

Okay, here are a few updates of my own...

Experimentals: Blessed With A Curse - I will be getting galley proof on this within the next week or so... with MLRPress.

The Lines Of Marsden: Living In Shadows - has been sent off to line editing... with MLRPress.

The Gaean Prophecies: Admetus Gaea - has just started the editing process... with Silver Publishing.

Sons of Evenmore: Blood to Blood - I hope to have this finished written by Dec 20th and sent off to my beta before submission before the end of December... with MLRPress.

So fricken hot...

It is so fricken hot where I live today that even the air-con isn't doing it's job. Though, I've noticed the cats are all with me in my office as it is now the coolest room in the house. I've had to tape up a huge sheet of cardboard in my office window until my hubs can either fix the screen he broke or replace the lower windows with wood... I am tired of my feel getting sunburnt.

Today I'm back to working on my NaNoWriMo story Sons of Evenmore: Blood to Blood. It is coming along nicely over the next two days I hope to catch up and get back on track to finishing on time.

FUCK!!! I have the worst cramp in my right upper arm it is burning like crazy...Bring on the Ice Gel spray and get rid of that sucker.

Okay enough chatting for today I have to get back in and get some more writing done... Before I forget here's an update on Experimentals: Blessed With A Curse will be in formatting in about two weeks... The Lines of Marsden: Living in Shadows is being looked at now, and The Gaean Prophecies: Admetus Gaea is still waiting for the editor to accept it.

Monday, 21 October 2013

I can finally see it.

Weirdly, after all these years I can finally see it when people say Em and I look alike... not as in looks, but we have exactly the same mannerisms and stuff.

Just finished some like edits on Experimentals: Blessed with a Curse... and returned them to the wonderful Steve L... I really can't wait for the cover art on this one.

I am supposed to be writing today, but as per usually a million other things have jumped to the head of the queue of important shit to complete.

I did see that The Connelly Chronicles: Family Connections... has been uploaded onto Amazon under the wrong name they misspelled Nielsen... hopefully it will get fixed soon. Then to top matter off I now have the damn book twice on my Goodreads... Sometimes I just SUCK!!! Luckily the talented and awesome Rebecca Bec fixed it all up for me

Friday, 18 October 2013

Sit back, relax, & let me ramble on...

Here I was realising that I have so much to do in the next 2 & a half months and then I see pictures like this, which put new story ideas in my head.

I'm trying not to start on something new when I have so much I need to finish by the end of the year... and I need to revise some of my writing schedule for 2014.

My major projects are:
  1. Sons of Evenmore: Blood to Blood, which I have decided will be my NaNoWriMo for this year & will go to MLR.
  2. The Connelly Chronicles: Beautiful Goodbyes, which is still just a happy for now book with one bit of heart breaking tragedy that I am working myself up to write for Silver.
  3. The Lines of Marsden: Living in Shadows, which I will hopefully have in edits with MLR
  4. The Experimentals: Blessed with a Curse, which will hopefully be released soon with MLR
  5. The Gaean Prophecies: Admetus Gaea, which is about to start edits with Silver.

Tuesday, 8 October 2013

Galley proof done...

Spent most of yesterday and today doing the galley proof on The Connelly Chronicles: Family Connections. I have just sent them back to the wonderful Kathy K.

Yesterday I also did galley edits on By the Way for the OZ MM Meet Anthology: Blokes in Love. That is off to finish being formatted now.

So now I am back to drawing the maps for front of The Gaean Prophecies: Admetus Gaea. Still having problems with them but I will get them completed in the next couple of days before I head off to Sydney.

When I have the maps drawn I will post them here so you can all have a look-see at what I'm talking about...A cartographer I am not. They will be very basic, but hopefully they will do the job I have intended for them.

Weirdly, I think my brain is on overload at the moment. I feel like I don't have a second to spare with all the things I have going on in my life... And today the damn phone has been running off the hook and driving me insane... I hate talking on the damn phone.

Friday, 4 October 2013

Yesterday & today are busy...busy...busy

So let's start today off with a hugfest of epic proportions... Life is so worthwhile when you have someone to hug. I've been known to walk up and hug total strangers.

I' m up to the galley proof on The Connelly Chronicles: Family Connections... So once I have the final read through done it'll be off to be made perfect for the release date: October 12. I'll be at the Oz MM Meet in Sydney then, so I won't be able to spruik about it until the 16th when I'll be home.

I'm also drawing maps of Admetus for The Gaean Prophecies: Admetus Gaea... & I can tell you it's not as easy as I though it would be... but I'm giving it a go. I can draw and I know I can draw, but I suck at drawing geographical maps... I prefer to draw faces.

Just when I think it's all over for the taxes - I find out there is still more to do. I feel like beating my head against the wall some days - the only thing stopping me is knowing I'd more then likely end up with a headache, and would still have to do the taxes.

Hard to believe that there are only 27 days left until NaNoWriMo starts... Em has threatened me that the book I write - Sons of Evenmore: Blood to Blood had better be about Jhex & Mercer. So I agreed (Do I have that whole misery vibe happening? NO... But just to be on the safe side I've hidden all the sledgehammers, and keys to the shed - LOL). I'm thinking just to throw her a curve ball I'm going to write Jhex but not in the way she thinks I will... I can't wait until November 1st so I can find out myself what I want to do - my plans of thinking about the story before hand fell through - I'm so not a plotter/planner.

Signed a new contract and other updates.

I am doing EIC edits on The Connelly Chronicles: Family Connections... and will try and get them back to the wonderful Kathy K at some stage today or tomorrow. At least these edits are not many... I did all the hard stuff with Jamie DR... who was a tremendous help to me. I like it when they explain things and give me example so that I can understand it... You all know how badly I suck at punctuation. I got them done and returned today which is a good thing just in case I have to go over them again.

I also signed another contract with Silver Publishing on The Gaean Prophecies: Admetus Gaea... to be honest I don't even remember subbing it but I received the contract today and filled in the cover art stuff twice because I lost the the first lot I filled in-- I managed to erase it all-- go me!!!

Monday, 30 September 2013

The last week & me.

Well my sister was here for the week and I was sick for nearly the whole time... Ross River Fever kicked my arse and I slept most of the week away. I'm feeling much better today.

Though I see by my posts I did do another round of edits on: The Connelly Chronicles: Family Connections, and sent them back to the amazing Jamie D. R...

Today I'm spending the day cleaning out my drop box and external hard drive... Just to get rid of all the crap folders... I plan on making 2014 more productive with easier access to things so I don't have to keep searching for files or pictures when I need them... I'm also going to separate the pictures by type by hair colour and by nationality. I think this will make my life a hell of a lot easier.

Wednesday, 25 September 2013

I'm back!!!

Well lucky I wasn't here yesterday as I had no net coverage anyway... I got it fixed this morning (had something to do with wiring & refreshing--yeah don't ask me as I have no clue either).

Anyway, when I got the Internet back I found I had EIC edits waiting for me on The Connelly Chronicles: Family Connections. I'll start on them today and hopefully get most of them done.

On a brighter note... Emily remembered who I was writing book 2 about in Sons of Evenmore: Blood to Blood... She tells me it is Jhex (but that could be just because she wants to read his story next). So at least I have a start to what I'm doing for NaNoWriMo this year... only 36 days until NaNo starts.

Have you ever?

Have you ever had the feeling of loss when you finally finish something you have been working on for over a year-- Do you feel like something is missing? Well, that's how I feel now that the taxes are finally done.

Though on the other hand I have had a very productive day... I redid my writing schedule for the rest of this year and next year. I also made a list of all my series and the books therein so I can cross them off as they are done... It'll make me feel like I'm accomplishing something.

I've also found out from my MLR Press editor Steve L that Experimentals: Blessed With A Curse has been sent to line editing... so I'm one step closer. Now I just have to wait and see what he thinks of The Lines Of Marsden: Living In Shadows... Hopefully it will get picked up as well. In December I'm hoping to also submit to him, Sons of Evenmore: Blood To Blood.

I'm also waiting to hear back from my beta reader: James A on The Gaean Prophecies: Admetus Gaea... Then it will be off to Cinder's O to see if she can pick up any holes.
